Not outdated

The old version did always install by opening the zip file from total commander.

Nevretheless, there is a new version:

Why the removal? That would not be my style to prevent competition
SkipR wrote: so I went to http://sftp4tc.berlios.de/ and while you can find it there the files page needs to make latest version stand out more.
Maybe it's on SourceForge someday, but now Berlios is ok.
SkipR wrote: I found it quite difficult to install sftp4tc using "TC plugins Manager v2.2.4" (TCPM) on total commander v8.01...
Simply opening the zip file should do the job and install the uwfx correctly.
But the new plugin archive contains all version, also 64 bit.
SkipR wrote: I know SFTP4TC has embedded putty in the wlx file but which SSL libraries being used are they embedded are they part of putty distribution or are they separate like SFTPplug.wfx? (I don't see any SSL DLL being loaded)
SSH is not SSL. All required cryptography code is provided by PuTTY and inside psftp.dll.

The plugin's home has relocated to https://sourceforge.net/projects/sftp4tc

Also a new version is released 1.3.63.2 http://sourceforge.net/projects/sftp4tc/files/wfx_sftp_1_3_63_2.zip/download which provides support for background copying and use of the Total Commander password store.

Can't connect, password prompt keeps returning

Post by *TCExplorer »

I can't connect. It keeps asking for the password.

Under Secure FTP Connections, it shows the sftp connection I defined.

All the parameters are identical to the Winscp version.

The screen that appears, when clicking edit connections, says SFTP4TC, based on PuTTY Configuration; is that correct?

The only connection type possible (the only radio button) is SSH.

In the c:\totalcmd\plugins\wfx\sftp4tc folder, are

1/13/2014 14:07 12,656 history.txt
6/02/2014 20:23 1,581 License
6/02/2014 20:28 1,318 License.putty
6/02/2014 20:10 9 plugin_sftp.uwfx
11/13/2014 14:09 128,000 plugin_sftp.wfx
11/13/2014 14:09 148,992 plugin_sftp.wfx64
11/13/2014 14:09 498,688 psftp.dll
11/13/2014 14:09 568,832 psftp64.dll

I've also copied the above DLLs, to c:\totalcmd, c:\totalcmd\plugins\wfx, c:\totalcmd\plugins\wfx\sftp4tc, just to make sure all the bases are covered.

But it keeps returning, asking me for a password, that is copied and pasted from the same source as the Winscp login.

Enable logging with SSH Packets and paste the log/attach the log file, but keep the password fields disabled. For your own research you might enable logging of passwords to track down the reason yourself.

Feel free to open a ticket at http://sourceforge.net/p/sftp4tc/tickets/

That's the configuration dialog.

correct.

There is no need to copy files yourself to many locations. Simply open the archive from total commander and installation is triggered.

see above: without log file there is no idea what went wrong.

Scanning through the log file now, it looks like the first problem is an SSH2_MSG_USERAUTH_FAILURE.

Looks like the character set translation is not configured correctly. Check

Code: Select all

Window->Translation->Remote character set
