More info about bookmarks, after watching what happens to Twinkey.bkm. The bookmark toggle hotkey works indeed. However, the path written into Twinkey.bkm is wrong. I have seen three different wrong patterns:
1. \path\file.ext is entered as \path
2. \path\file.ext is entered as \path\file.ext number
3. \path\file.ext is entered as \path\file.ext number.number

Bookmark colorization works too. But due to the wrong path, no existing bookmark gets colorized simply because paths don't match at all. I verified that if I bookmark a file and the wrong path is added to Twinkey.bkm, then the bookmark is colorized. That suggests that Twinkey is consistently using the same (buggy) code both for creating and for matching bookmark paths.

Win7 x64, TC 8.0 x32
Ctrl+Right Click brings up the color menu for tabs (for me).
Incactive Panels have their proper TwinKey coloring.

Sticky Files are working as well. Though I had to enable-it, checkbox it in the Twinkey Util, and re-assign the hotkey.
*BLINK* TC9 Added WM_COPYDATA and WM_USER queries for scripting.

You might try uninstalling TwinKey, and reinstalling. Backup the ini and various TK config files first.

This time I installed TC 8.0 x32. I still have the same issues with stickies and bookmarks. Wrong paths are added to Twinkey.bkm for bookmarks, and this time I noticed wrong paths for stickies in Twinkey.ini. One improvement is that now Ctrl+Right click brings up the color menu for tabs. Where is the list of colorized tabs saved? I can't find it...

Where? In Twinkey.ini? No such sections exist or even get created in my Twinkey.ini. Very weird...

Yes, I've just tested. Colorize some tab and restart TC. On its start the new section is created in TWinKey.ini.
PS. TWinKey ver3.81;
PPS. Are you sure that this is the right TWinKey.ini? Try to introduce some other new key and check your file is really updated.

Thanks, colorized tabs are working here now; it needs restarting TC before the new keys are added. Since I had many colorized tabs and now I don't have any, I wonder when/why all my colorized tab entries were erased from twinkey.ini. Did it ever happen to you?

Stickies/bookmarks are still messed up, sometimes they work, other times they don't and the wrong path is entered in the bkm file. Apparently twinkey is trashing the file path at random; bad pointer?

P.S. TwinKey 3.105 newer than 3.81 - you could upgrade
Version 3.105
- File list scrolling is disabled while selection with right mouse button
- Added option for enable inplace renaming on mouse click
- Added option for open QuickView on NextQuickView
- Added tabs scrolling by wheel
- Added Tab list on Favorites button (*) by right click
- Added keys CustomScreenX, CustomScreenY in TWinKey.ini files for custom monitor size
- TCDirMenu. Added function for cm_CommandBrowser
- Utilisator. Added Clear Hotkey command
- Stopwatch is floating window now
edit:
These items get appended to TwinKey.bkm when I repeatedly bookmark TwinKey.bkm via toggle bookmark hotkey (numbers ARE part of added items):

Code: Select all

180=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\TWinKey.bkm	27.4
181=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\TWinKey.bkm	27.5
182=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\TWinKey.bkm	27.6
183=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\TWinKey.bkm	27.7
184=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\TWinKey.bkm	27.9
185=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\TWinKey.bkm	28.0
This was tested with TwinKey 3.105. I also downgraded to 3.81 and still had issues.

If I create a folder named "a b" and create two files in it named "x y.txt" and "x z.txt" then I toggle bookmark of "x y.txt" the following path is added to TwinKey.bkm

Code: Select all

186=C:\totalcmd\plugins\wdx\TWinKey\a b\x
and BOTH "x y.txt" and "x z.txt" are highlighted. So something wrong is going on when the file name has embedded spaces. I also tested file name "(s)omething in here.txt". Twinkey dropped the whole file name and saved just the path of the containing folder into TwinKey.bkm. So something's wrong with certain characters, like space and bracket, and probably more.
I use English Windows, so it shouldn't be a charset issue.
I wonder if it's something in my PATH, maybe a dll conflict?

I am glad to help you.
I don't want to upgrade because the new version has some bugs critical for me (concerning hot keys).
The problem is that TWinKey's author is absent for a very long time. Nobody can reach him. I hope he is just busy, and will be available some day. You should wait and ask him when he would be online.

@VadiMGP TwinKey version 2014-08-31 has two new commands: display tab list menu left/right. Very useful, much appreciated, thanks! Could you please add an option to display the tab lists alphabetically sorted? TIA

For me file bookmarks are always saved for example as 1=\ReadMe.html

For this reason they can't be used to jump to
but Coloring works.
I guess they should be saved with fullpath to file.
Using TC 8.51a x64 and newest Twinkey.

Yes, it is possible but take in account - locked tabs start with asterisk and always will precede unlocked tabs

I know there is the bug when you bookmark file after search->feed to list box. But anyway there should be full path.
I cannot understand how you get such short name. Can you give me a hint?

I do nothing special, just hit the hotkey while displaying normal TC file window.
The bookmark is colored according to my settings
and displayed in the list if I hit the hotkey for it.
But it always shows and stores names of files or dirs beginning with \
For testing I changed the entries in the bookmark file to full path and restarted TC. Then I can jump to the bookmarks but they are no longer colored.

Here my Twinkey.ini content:

[Keyboard]
ToggleBookMark=Alt+Ctrl+F9
JumpBookMark=Alt+Ctrl+F10
[Config]
StickyFiles=0
StickySort=1
BookMarks=1
PersistBookmarks=1
[Colors&Styles]
StickStyle=2
MarkPercent=33
BookMarkColor=#C0C0C0
BookMarkStyle=2

Did you edit TWinKey.ini manually? It looks suspiciously short.
Try to check/uncheck some checkbox in the Utilisator and press Ok button.
If it doesn't solve the problem send me ini and bkm files please.

I deleted the original one to try with a fresh ini.
After a few clicks it looks as follows:
[Keyboard]
ToggleBookMark=Alt+Ctrl+F9
JumpBookMark=Alt+Ctrl+F10
[Config]
StickyFiles=1
StickySort=1
BookMarks=1
PersistBookmarks=1
ReturnTabs=0
UseDesktopINI=0
OverrideVisualMode=0
ColoredTabs=1
KeepTabColors=0
FileGroupping=0
FileGroupping2=0
LostFocus=0
BriefSingleColor=0
DblClickGotoDir=1
Retracktor=0
ChangeColumns=0
ESCSpecial=0
TabsToFav=0
TabsWheel=0
InPlaceRename=0
[Colors&Styles]
StickStyle=2
MarkPercent=33
BookMarkColor=#C0C0C0
BookMarkStyle=2
LostFocusStyle=3
RetrColor=#00C4C4
RetrOpacity=64

And here the bookmark file with just a file and a dir made for testing.

[BookMarks]
1=\ReadMe.html
2=\Examples

The real entries are:
c:\Tools\Wincmd\PLUGINS\TWinKey\Examples\ReadMe.html
c:\Tools\Wincmd\PLUGINS\TWinKey\Examples
