"known functionality issues" mean?
There is a unpatched Manifest / Windows 7 context bug that causes applications launched from 32bit explorer applications to default to a vista context which also causes issues in the windows compatibility profiles.

I think this issue can be reproduced with any wcx plugin.
I understand, thank you.

I've noticed that each time that i click configure button to change Total7zip settings, all existing entries of  <formatsDisabled />  section are deleted.

Other possible bug, i've configured Total7zip to use Spanish language, but when i unpack an encrypted .7z file Total7zip asks me for the password in English not in Spanish.

Thanks again.

Sorry, but I didn't get it. Maybe You can give me a link to microsoft site where these issues are explaned?
If you are right, then we will meet these "issues" everytime we use 32-bit Total Commander with 64-bit Windows and when we start any 64-bit application from Total Commander.
Full technical article would be good.
And I hope this is just misunderstanding and "bad issue" doesn't exist.

can you show me your edited Total7zip.xml?
I think I can help you. I cannot reproduce this issue on my computer.

You're right - all 7-zip dialogs should be translated, but this one (with the "save password") is shown by plugin and not translated.

I think this issue can be reproduced with any wcx plugin.
I have tested with several plugins (Total SQX, AES, 7Zip) and also with internal unpackers (zip, rar) - and the ONLY instance where TC seems to support setting of directory attributes is when unpacking ZIP (internal).

TC 11.03 32+64bit on Win XP 32bit & Win 7, 8.1 & 10 (22H2) 64bit, 'Everything' 1.5.0.1371a

can you please post report about this bug?
in TC7.55 "Unpack directory time stamps from archives" was fixed.
maybe it's time to fix attributes =)

You're right, i think that is something that it should be fixed.

I cannot confirm this:

I have a 7z archive of an old Firefox profile folder tree.
This archive was created using 7zip v4.65.0

This archive has just been unpacked using
+ Total Commander 7.56a
+ 7zip plugin v0.5.8
+ the unpack setting including pathnames
The copy option to copy folder timestamps had been activated before unpacking.

The target filesystem is NTFS on Windows 7 32-bit.

The folder timestamps of all (sub)folders have been restored correctly. I.e. the folder timestamps inside the 7z archive and the folder timestamps on the disk are absolutely identical.
The same applies to the file timestamps as well.

So T.C. can restore folder timestamps correctly when unpacking archives. This does not only apply to ZIP archives, but at minimum to 7z archives as well. - This will work as expected only in case the folder objects including their attributes/timestamps have been added to the archive.

Kind regards,
Karl

We are talking about directory attributes.
For example if you have hidden directory in your archive, you will lost this attribute if you unpack the archive with wcx plugin. It's not about times. That's it.

Hello, Total7zip. Hello, petermad.

I see.
Sorry for being offtopic: typical bad habit in forums: never read the whole thread before writing a reply to a question that had not been asked at all. :oops:

Cheers,
Karl

your xml is wrong. there should be one section formatsDisabled
you have:

Code: Select all

	<formatsDisabled />
        <formatsDisabled>
		<format description="zip" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110010000}" />
		<format description="Rar" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110030000}" />
		<format description="Arj" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110040000}" />
		<format description="Lzh" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110060000}" />
		<format description="Cab" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110080000}" />
		<format description="Compound" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110E50000}" />
        </formatsDisabled>
and fixed version is here:

Code: Select all

        <formatsDisabled>
		<format description="zip" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110010000}" />
		<format description="Rar" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110030000}" />
		<format description="Arj" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110040000}" />
		<format description="Lzh" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110060000}" />
		<format description="Cab" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110080000}" />
		<format description="Compound" guid="{23170F69-40C1-278A-1000-000110E50000}" />
        </formatsDisabled>
see - your first "<formatsDisabled />" declares empty section, that's why all formats were not saved.

Nothing I do can get this plugin to open CAB files... I suspect I don't understand these magic numbers well enough. Can anybody walk me through?

It would be nice if the plugin had a feature that allowed the user to click on what formats he wanted it to handle and then it was automatically set up that way.

first of all you can run
Debug View - it will show you if Total Commander uses my plugin with your cab file.

for example on my computer I see

Code: Select all

[4532] [Total7zip] OpenArchiveW, hArcData=7, [+], G:\src\VolumeKeys-0.4.1.CAB, open(TC)=OK,(Total7zip)=OK, mode=PK_OM_LIST
[4532] [Total7zip] SetProcessDataProc, hArcData=7, WARNING old total commander API
[4532] [Total7zip] SetChangeVolProc, hArcData=7, WARNING old total commander API
[4532] [Total7zip] SetProcessDataProcW, hArcData=7
[4532] [Total7zip] SetChangeVolProcW, hArcData=7
[4532] [Total7zip] CloseArchive,  hArcData=7, [+], G:\src\VolumeKeys-0.4.1.CAB
If you do not see Total7zip log messages in Debug View, then it looks like Total Commander uses some other plugin, or opens your cab file by itself.

You can use TC Plugins Manager 2.2.3 to configure your plugins:
