hm... I checked again - these fields are named

Code: Select all

[=total7zip.Compression ratio]
[=total7zip.Unpacked Size]
and they work for all supported files.

for example - "Compression ratio" will be shown for 7z and rar files, but it will be empty for bmp files.

And I don't understand why there is no space in your CompressionRatio and UnpackedSize.

Is there any way to open the UDF part of ISO images containing ISO9660+UDF parts? Right now, only the "dummy" ISO9660 parts get displayed for Windows 7 / Windows 2008 ISO images.

I checked with Win7 Enterprise trial iso and plugin opened it.
Can you show me your Total7zip.xml configuration file, I think there is something wrong in formats section.

Yes. I also check once more after a reboot and find they all work this time.
The spaces were ignored just to save quotation marks. It's my style:) Sorry for making confussion.

Yes, you're right! I tried it on another PC today with a fresh installation of the Total7zip plugin and it worked like a charm.

Will wipe the Total7zip plugin on the other computer completely and reinstall. Guess it still contained an older configuration file from a previously installed version.

You are right - volumes setting is not saved.
But this is how original 7-zip works.

You can use volumes - just use this trick:
1. press Alt+F5, "Pack Files" dialog will be displayed.
2. choose "7z" packer
3. check "Encrypt" - if this option is set, plugin will show you settings dialog before it will create archive.
4. do not enter password in this dialog, but set your volume size in this dialog and press OK.

In other words, you can always use "Encrypt" checkbox in Total Commander to tell plugin that you want to see options dialog and add some special option only for this new archive.
It works, thanks a lot for this very useful tooltip.

Contrary to some non-believers 7-Zip grows by leaps and bounds in pervasion, features and format-support and finaly we've got a flexible plugin for it.

Hmm read full thread, but is there a list of 'complete features' for each format handled by this plugin?

I could immediately replace 5 of my 10 packer plugins with this one plugin, which in itself is pretty amazing. And may even replace a 6th, if total7zip handles .CAB files for CE format files - am currently using CabCE plugin from Ghisler (pocketpc/windows mobile format cab files).

But as there's no (known to me) way to properly uninstall WCX plugins, I had to replace the associations in the TC ini file manually, and thus all the filter/parameter flag settings may be way off.
I will instead add the list from your readme, but do have a couple of questions
- why are there both a 7zip_zip and a zip (etc) section for some of the formats? This because they are/may be handled internally by TC, and if so, why the zip line?
- how about the mentioned supported but in the readme ini example not mentioned packer formats? Like DEB, RPM, CPIO.

This is how I've ended up defining my packer section in ini, suggestions or corrections welcome:

Code: Select all

[PackerPlugins]
CAB=5,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\CabCE\CabCE.wcx
TSK=5,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\CabCE\CabCE.wcx

About the paths definable in the xml settings file, that's pretty cool. I'm assuming the ones included are 32-bit versions. I use TC both on my home desktop system and on a portable drive, and keep 7zip well updated both places. For my home desktop, the setup is pretty obvious, as there's no chance that it varies in basic OS version, but for the portable drive it's a cool advantage being able to have it autodetect and associate to the correct version of 7zip - 32 or 64 bit - and keeping it updated is so easy using the portableapps launcher.
I didn't quite catch the meaning of the comment in the readme, thou - "NOTE: For 64-bit version you need a full set of 64-bit files - 7zG.exe, 7z.dll, Lang." - but is this correct:

Code: Select all

<path path_7z_dll="%COMMANDER_DRIVE%/PortableApps/7-ZipPortable/App/7-Zip/7z.dll" path_7zG_exe="%COMMANDER_DRIVE%/PortableApps/7-ZipPortable/App/7-Zip/7zG.exe" />
	<path64bit path_7z_dll="%COMMANDER_DRIVE%/PortableApps/7-ZipPortable/App/7-Zip64/7z.dll" path_7zG_exe="%COMMANDER_DRIVE%/PortableApps/7-ZipPortable/App/7-Zip64/7zG.exe" />
(both folders - 7-Zip and 7-Zip64 contains Lang folders).

Thanks for this very thorough job, this will definitely save time in the future regarding packer plugins maintenance.

Hi,

as the previous poster, I am very interested in this plugin, as it could replace a number of plugins I am using.

I downloaded and I see that there are some instructions to install it:

You can use Total7zip with other formats and you can create bzip2, gzip, tar, wim, xz and zip archives as well.
This is like my own PackerPlugins section looks -
[PackerPlugins]
7z=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
wim=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
xz=731,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
bzip2=731,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
7zip_gzip=731,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
7zip_tar=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
7zip_zip=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
gzip=731,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
tar=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
zip=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
rar=196,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
bz2=196,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
arj=196,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
cab=708,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
flv=708,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
gz=716,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx
lzh=735,%COMMANDER_PATH%\Plugins\wcx\Total7zip\Total7zip.wcx

my question is, I understand total7zip also supports other formats such as iso, msi or nsis, so could you post a sample of the configuration so that it works with all extensions total7zip supports??

thanks indeed, and keep the nice work!

It's difficult to create full list of all supported extensions.
For example -
Zip compression is used by many other file-types:
"bin", "btapp", "crx", "dat", "docx", "dotm", "dotx", "eftx", "exe", "jar", "lng", "m2dct", "ods", "odt", "pib", "potx", "pptx", "skn", "so", "thm", "thmx", "tut", "udat", "wmz", "xap", "xlam", "xlsx", "xltx", "xpi", "zip"
And Total7zip can open all these files as usual "zip" archives.

So, I think, it's better to use Ctrl+PageDown to open some unknown file.

By the way, this list is taken from my Total7zip.xml.
Plugin detected all these supported files by itself.

oh I see, that is fine, using Ctrl+PageDown will work nicely for me.

Another question, once this configured as content and lister plugin as well...how exactly does it work? I mean an example of using it...

I already installed total7zip replacing 4 plugins I had, but I dont see how it works as lister etc.

thanks!

EDIT: ok i had my lister plugin wrongly configured (the index was 0 instead of 1), now i can 'list' compresed files. I dont understand totally how it works as a content plugin though

from Total Commander Help:
"Content plugins have several purposes: Searching for specific file properties and contents, displaying of these properties in file lists, and using them in the multi-rename tool to add them to the file name. Examples are:
- mp3 id-tags (Artist, Title, Album etc)"
Total7zip can display number of files and folders in archives, compression ratio and so on.
You can use it in search dialog to find, for example, all 64bit PE files.
Everything you see in lister plugin can be displayed in custom columns and also can be used in search dialog.

hi,

i´d like to have one additional option in the "configure" window. I am using the zipping procedure a lot of times a day, hence it is annoying to delete thee source files after packing them. Could you add this option into your code?
For me it is not important to have a previous check if the packing process worked fine.
Thank you for your reply!

TC "Pack files" dialog (Alt+F5)
has an option "Move to archive".
Is this what you want?
