@Matt111:
The latest published extDir (1.6RC3) works correctly under TC 8.01 (tested under the x86 version).

The only thing you need is simply to switch the used method (to get the currently selected filename) to the new one:

Options -> Configuration (Ctrl +P) -> Advanced -> New & more stable method (from TC v8.0B10) (screenshot).

(or alternatively in the ini file: TC8B10Method=True)

Total Commander extDir 1.6.0.4

Post by *Bluestar »

Hi Peter,

Indeed the last release was quite some time ago. I was thinking on whether I should take more time and release a new version with some new functions (such as file creation which is almost done, though still needs some more test & preparation), or make it public with a bunch of bugfixes and changes as it is now - and I think its time to release a new version anyway. :)

... so until final 1.6 comes out, here's a new bugfix release:

[face=tahoma]Total Commander extDir v1.6.0.4

Bugfix release containing updated language files (German & Ukrainian - thanks to Der Schrauber & LonerD).
Update is strongly recommended!
(read the changelog for more info...)

:arrow: Download | 11-07-2013 | MD5 (exe): ff93fb0bcbd309d30e74ad5aa99b7e5b

Changelog:

* New: Updated German language (thanks to Der Schrauber)
* New: Updated Ukrainian language (thanks to LonerD)
* Change: check for WM_COPYDATA function (TC>=8.0B10) and set "Method" automatically to the new one if it exists (one-time only)
* Change: adding DoNotEnterDeepest=False line to [Configuration] section of the ini file on fresh installation
* Change: better handling of item removal in the Manage Templates dialog when pressing DEL key
* Change: updated method to get the short identifier of the current operating system language for the error logfile(s)
* Change: reduced the size of some png image which means smaller executable
* Change: from now on now the About dialog is resizable as well
* Fixed: [!] empty preselection filename on the start of the utility sometimes in Brief view (only affects Original method)
* Fixed: incorrect / empty preselection filename on the start of the utility (if TC >= 8.0B24) (only affects Original method)
* Fixed: incorrect directory name (with question marks) after pasting unicode (current system non-unicode lng setting) data from clipboard using Ctrl + V hotkey (only in Normal mode) (reported by LonerD)
* Fixed: extDir now correctly recognizes Windows 8 using the {os} special variable / replacement
* Fixed: the SpeedButtons font color hasn't been reset to default after deactivating a theme containing "SpeedBtnColor" entry
* Fixed: an EPNGCouldNotLoadResource error after deactivating any UserTheme (occurred on saving configuration)
* Fixed: do not close the utility on Esc keypress if attributes edit control / language dropdown is focused
* Fixed: align of "Refresh" label isn't correctly set after changing language runtime
* Fixed: attributes edit control background color isn't changed on switching theme
* Fixed: charset problem of some component (changed them to DEFAULT_CHARSET)
* Fixed: a couple of other things...

thanks, good little helper!

one thing... i think it would be nice if the dialog window was resizable.

also, unicode would be very nice, but i guess, that would be too much work.

@TW:
Thanks, glad you like it! :)

Resizable main dialog support could be done, I'll see if I can find the time to improve the GUI with such a feature.

Unicode support is planned since a long time, the problem is that I have to recompile the whole source under Delphi XE for it to work properly, and this in itself would elongate the startup time of the utility a bit much, which is a critical factor for this special app...
Maybe it is going to be introduced later, in a completely rewritten extDir - which only going to support TC8.x series.

It's a pity, but the homepage of the author is not active any more. I hope he is OK.

Here is the tool on totalcmd.net:

Hi all, I would like to ask you for help.
Is it possible to use the feature "Templates" to create more than one folder at once? I create the same six folders ten times per day and I am looking for some effective way.
Thank you for your support
