Christian and Flint,

Just a thought: since Totalcmd.net is a very much used resource in this community, would it be a good thing to move it to the cloud? Like Amazon S3 or some other service?
Part of the www.ghisler.com website (all external downloadable plugins and additions for example) could be hosted there as well.

Regards, EricB

http://forum.wincmd.ru has been completly recovered
http://wincmd.ru is almost completly recovered since I had to change scripts to comply with PHP5. There may be still some errors that I might had not noticed.
www.totalcmd.net will be recovered as soon as I fix DNS errors and update scripts. Hopefully I will manage to it today.

Sorry for this downtime.

I now have two 9-month old twins that I have to take care of :) so recovery speed may be not very fast

Ok, your'e right, having two identical copies is definitely a very safe backup strategy. But shouldn't they rather be kept in different locations in order to even cope with a fire or some other devastating event of that kind? ;)

Most of the addons I have on totalcmd.net can still not be downloaded - Should I re-upload or is there a chance the files will be recovered?

Fortunately the download link of my ImgView plugin on TotalCmd.net points to one of our university's servers where the ImgView.zip file is physically hosted. So far this server has never been down for more than a few hours and due to our automated backup technique we have never suffered from any data loss. The only thing which is still missing on the ImgView web page on TotalCmd.net is a screen snapshot. On behalf of that, Flint told me to wait for his public announcement in this forum asking us to re-upload our missing files.

I use a lot the rss.xml link http://www.totalcmd.net/rss.xml or http://www.totalcmd.net/rss/rss.xml I got 403 !
It seems that the upload/update mechanism do not feed anymore the rss file.

You did/do a good job maintaining our reference plugin repository

RSS is working again !
Thx a lot..

nsp,
All my updated plugins (I've re-uploaded all of them yesterday) there, so it seems to be working:) simple uploading may be done w/o updating, just via editing (which is not sent to RSS).

OK, it's time to dot some i's and cross some t's.

First of all, most of the totalcmd.net services have now been restored to work. If you notice some after-effects, please, let me know via the forum or by E-mail. If you had an FTP account, it needs to be re-created from scratch. Please, contact me by E-mail and tell your former login/password.

Unfortunately, many files uploaded by plugin authors are now lost irreversibly. If you maintain one or more plugins on totalcmd.net, please, check your links and reupload the files and/or screenshots if they are missing. We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience. In the meantime I'm digging my local archives and uploading the missing files I happen to have downloaded earlier. Afterwards, I'll create a list of files which will still remain missing, so that other users who have them locally could also help to restore the files.

2Flint and Ergo,

I am a notorious collector of plugins, so if something is missing, I might have it. I also recall that user Phoenix_Productions once claimed he has a lot of stuff in backup, even from the ClubTotal times.
Good luck sorting things out, I'm happy most of the site is working again.

27 (out of 52) files of mine were missing - I have now re-uploaded the missing files - so you don't have to bother checking for lost files from author Peter H. S. Madsen (petermad).

As EricB I also have a saved fair amount of plugins and tools downloaded from totalcmd.net - in case you need any.

EDIT:
I have now uploaded all my TC plugins and tools to http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/plugins and http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/tools

In http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/tc_plugins.lst you can see the files with DiskDirExtended.

It seems the waybackmachine / archive.org has pretty decent copies, tried a few pages and downloads, worked for me http://web-beta.archive.org/

P.S. the post above looks like spam to me... could be wrong though.

It doesn't seem to me that they store archives or screenshots. We have already reuploaded some of the formerly missing files, maybe you just tried them. Could you name a plugin which is downloaded (or shows a screenshot) via archive.org and is not via wincmd.ru directly?

It most definitely is. Waiting for a moderator with banner in his hands…
