You just found a tiny bug - fixed it in BETA4. :D

By the way thanks for your Lithuanian language file (i got your email), I greatly appreciate it - will be available in the next version.

Small wish:
Can you add a tab with "New Plugins last 4 weeks" with possibility to
download?

After some days of monitoring this, i finally gave it a try.

Suggestion:
- context(?) menu to de-select / select all entries might be useful

And i actually thought the Tool would do all the work of actually updating the plugins, not only downloading them.

Is that planned? (sorry if that question is answered somewhere in the thread and i didnt see it ;))

I know that "Update the checked items" caption doesn't properly express what the funtion does at the moment, but I thought it's just OK for the BETA, since the final version will do the actual update of the downloaded plugins / tools too. I can add a new temporary language string like "Download the checked items", but that string then needs to be retranslated by everyone, and will be 'dropped' as soon as TU's update function will be implemented too - thats the reason it just can't be found in the lng file.
It's going to be optional, user will able to choose what to do with the downloaded files (a checkbox to "Remember the chosen option" would be useful), eg:
1) Do nothing; 2) Update the plugins ; 3) Update only the selected plugins

Re: Total Updater (BETA3) - Total Commander & plugin upd

Post by *Bluestar »

@ts-soft:
I could introduce a new function like this, but would it worth it? After all you can just browse totalcmd.net and see the new items on it. :D I wouldn't say its a bad idea, I just can't really imagine how could it fit the current GUI & layout of the software... maybe it would need a tabpage inside the current Update tab, but I wouldn't like to overcomplicate the whole frontend... keep it simple, keep it clean.

I may add such a feature, if more of you would surely use it. But this whole thing would be some kind of "preparation" for the software to transform from an Updater to a "Plugin Store" (as Lefteous suggested before) - which I totally support, but surely not for these initial releases (there are dozens of more important issues to address atm).

@seb-:
As petermad already pointed to it correctly (thanks!), TU is surely going to be able to update the downloaded plugins (after all this is what is is made for - as its title says -, so it really should support it :D).

I even clarified the current lack of this feature in the topic's first post to avoid the misunderstandings.
Bluestar wrote:Being a BETA software, it has some limitations / uninplemented features at the moment, some of them:
  • Unpacking & installation of the downloaded plugins is not yet ready
Your suggestion is also on the to-do list (the translators won't love me for adding some new strings 'cause of it though... =D), so all I can say is stay tuned. :wink:

Dutch translation - TotalUpdater

Post by *jkramer »

Hello,

I have made a Dutch translation :) for TotalUpdater.

I have tried to send the language file by mail, but the bluestar.dev@hotmail
refused the mail or could not be reached.

How can I attach a file in a post to a reply on this board?

Regards,

Jaap Kramer - Netherlands

You can MIME encode your laguage file and then post the content here on the board (copy and paste) - mark it as "Code" when you make the posting.

Like this:

Code: Select all

MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: application/octet-stream; name="TotalUpdater.lng"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="TotalUpdater.lng"

@jkramer: First of all, thank you very much for your contribution. You can send me the file using the MIME encoding way petermad just described above, or by sending me a mail (its actually dev.bluestar and not vice versa :D, the other parts were okay - .com at the end), or just click on the email button here on the forum.

You can also find my email address in the utility (just hover my nickname on the About tab next to "Idea & development" - it is also going to be pasted into your clipboard if you click on it)

@ramses: Thanks, really glad you like it.

New Danish translation can be downloaded at http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/TotalUpdater0_7b4Danish.zip

It might have to be changed later - it is not possible to make a good translation when you don't know the context, and don't know the space avaible for the strings.

@petermad & Tichij: Thank you guys, that was fast. :D

I'm still waiting for some of the translations to be actualized, and plan to release the new Beta4 version today / tomorrow at latest (all of its planned new key functions / fixes are ready).

[face=tahoma]Total Updater v0.7 Beta 4

The new version comes with internal support for Dutch, Lithuanian, Spanish and Swedish languages, critical stability & version detection improvements and many new functions (UserDB is finally ready). From now on you can also confirm updatable items as latest if you'd like to, so they won't show up in your list as "false alarms", until a real new version comes out from them.

Update is strongly recommended!
(read the changelog for more info...)

Hi Bluestar,

I've upgraded from Beta3 to Beta4, and while searching for updates, I get the following AV:

Access violaton at address 0060F66C in module TotalUpdater.exe. Read of address 00000008.

The tabs remain active, so you can switch, but the search progress bar remains at 80%. Closing using the window 'X' is possible without further messages. All buttons and settings remain active, and Update checked items also seems to work.

I've also tried by removing the existing TotalUpdater.ini and reconfiguring, but same result. BTW this does not happen when DataBase is off, so it might be some proxy related item.

Regards, EricB
