[Wish] Choose the plugin you want to use with the lister

Post by *Geoffrey »

Hi,

Now that more and more plugins are available, several plugins address the same types of files (e.g. SynUs and IEView both address HTML files).

Would it be possible to add an option to let the user choose which plugin he/she wants, when more than one are available, instead of choosing the first one ?

I think the first plugin found from the list is found, and it's possible to change the list order, but it's not so convenient, and there are cases where it's not enough.

Regards,
Geoffrey

I support your wish !

Even Christian bothered about SynUs which manipulates his menues ...

There should be an option/item where the automatic detection by filetype can be overridden by selecting an installed plugin.

very good idea !!

Lister is able to recognize the type of file to display and the plugin to activate, and adapts the Options menu - item n° 4 according to the activated plugin.

why not build a submenu in Options -> 4, allowing to choose the plugin to activate, when the type of file is associated to several plugins ?

You can already use the '4' key to cycle through all installed plugin which support the specific file type. I think that this is faster than a submenu to the '4' menu item...

Submenu could be useful to select plugin that couldn't recognize the file as its "client". This popup menu should be in addition, not instead of "4" menu item. And it should contain all lister plugins installed. Example: I have a bitmap renamed to TXT - as a result I cannot see it as picture.

Valentino,

What are you trying to hide from the world? ;)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

And how can we do the same thing using the Quick View Panel (Ctrl+Q)?

Set focus to Quick View panel (either with a mouse or by Tab) end hit "4" there.

hit "4"
it works, yes, but I just noticed something curious:
- lister is not case sensitive : I can hit " 4 " as well as " ' " (french keyboard)
- quick view is case sensitive : only " 4 " works !

Not Obvious

While you can do this, it is not *obvious* and therefore subject to a) never being discovered and b) easily forgotten.
