Plugin request: SystemTime (current date time Today Now)

Post by *Stefan2 »

Can somebody please create a plugin to provide the current date and time of the operation system?

Proposed name perhaps smtg like: SystemTime (or even SystemInfo)

Provided information:

- Current date (format from the settings of this pc) <<< THIS is most need, like for today: 22. 01. 2019 (German: dd. mm. yyyy)

- Current Time (format from the settings of this pc) <<< THIS is most need, like for right now: 11:01

Maybe also

- Current date +/- x day
- Current Time +/- x minutes
- Current:
-- YY
-- YYYY
-- MM
-- DD
-- hh
-- mm
-- ss
-- pm / am

- (maybe more info about running system: Hostname, OS, Bit, Manufacturer, region info,..)

Purpose:
use for
- search files created on Current today date: 00:00-23:59
- color file by a definition via search
- multi rename tool: add current time stamp to file name

TIA :D      (or is such not possible with TCs plugin system?)

:?: Why not WinScriptsADV?
It supports AHK, PS, VBH
And I know, you can do it!

Thank you, Ovg, I am thinking I really could, but I am also thinking 'we' need
something more easier, easier to handle for every user without much long guidance.

Did you try the Age content plugin?
TC plugins: Autodesk 3ds Max / Inventor / Revit Preview, FileInDir, ImageMetaData (JPG Comment/EXIF/IPTC/XMP), MATLAB MAT-file Viewer, Mover, SetFolderDate, Solid Edge Preview, Zip2Zero and more

I tested that: viewtopic.php?p=350925#p350925 (german thread)
Unfortunately the query for "today" with this plugin works only conditionally, because 1 day is considered from the time of the query(!)

I have updated my sample content plugin "filesys" to support the fields "Today" and "Yesterday". You can find it here:
http://ghisler.fileburst.com/content/wdx_filesys.zip

The fields check for the current date only (in local time), and ignore the current time.

Content WDX Plugin: Boolean for Today and Yesterday Heute Gestern

Thank you very much for that update!

WDX content plugin "filesys" (filesys sample plugin v2.5 from 31.Jan.2019)

Adds new fields "Today" and "Yesterday" give back a Boolean "Yes" or "No"
for current DATE (NOT the date in numbers as an string itself)

See >> https://www.ghisler.com/plugins.htm#content
>>> Content plugins
>>> at the "Content-Plugin Guide"-box
>>> "A very small sample plugin with source"
For your information: How-to install a plugin
You can just install by double click:
- since years, newer plugins come with a "pluginst.inf" file in the archive.
- so download the wanted plugin, and in TC, go to the download folder,
- double click the downloaded archive, you are asked to install.

This works fine for Search for files created "Today" and "Yesterday",
and so for "Color by filetype" files created "Today" and "Yesterday" too.
How-to: Define colors by file type
--------------------------------
- Menu: Configuration > Options > Color
- Define colors by file type...
- [Add...]
- [Define]
- In "Define selection" (the re-used "search"-window)
--- open [Plugins] page and configure
--- ---- Plugin: filesys | Property: Today | OP: = | Value: Yes
- [Save] as e.g. "search_Today"
- back in "Specify file type" click [OK]
- choose Color, [OK]
- back in "Define colors by..." click [OK] (maybe drag and drop the definition to the right order)
- back in "Configuration" click [OK]

-----
To delete such rule, select it and press [Delete]
-----

Deutsch / German:
>>> FAQs: Dateien/Ordner einfärben >>> viewtopic.php?p=287485#p287485

--------------------------------

- - -

Note: This doesn't work for MRT (Multi-rename tool):

[N1-8] [=filesys.Heute] [=filesys.Gestern]
12345678 Ja Nein.ext
But for MRT, to add the current date&time, we can still use [T3]:
[N1-8] [T3] [YMD] - [hms]
12345678 20190131 - 1314.ext (Jan 31, 2019 13:14)

In MRT press F1:
[T1] After this position, use last modification date/time from renamed file for all date/time fields (default).
Note: These are just switches! Use them with the other time placeholders, e.g. [T1][YMD] [hms]
[T2] After this position, use current date/time (when rename dialog was opened)
[T3] After this position, use current date/time (when rename options were last changed)

I almost couldn't find the plugin as it is named "Content-Plugin Guide".
An explanationary add of "filesys" in the text might be helpful!

Thanks, I edited my post to point that out.
