Outlook FS plugin - source code released!

Post by *tbeu »

I wonder if there is any need for an Outlook file system plugin to browse the Outlook folders on Microsoft Exchange Server or of personal setting files (.pst)? For the sake of demonstration I started to develop such a plugin. Currently you can only browse the Outlook folders - nothing else. You should yourself give a minute or so and read the Readme file before.

Any comments are appreciated.

Seems to work with my pst file.
An option for selecting another than the default pst file in the plugin properties would be nice.

Good idea!
Script fs plugin has a Outlook folder browser as an example.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

Good work there!

Is only oneway copying planned or bothways? You know, security reasons

Any need for an Outlook FS plugin?
I guess this is only a rhetorical question. :D I would use it twice a day - at least.

Do you expect comments if we need the plugin or for its (future) functionality?

It probably will not be that soon as MAPI is new to me and there are several other plugins to maintain as well.
An option for selecting another than the default pst file in the plugin properties would be nice.
Sure!

I know, but this is pretty slow of course.
Is only oneway copying planned or bothways?
The next step for me is to implement FsGetFile to retrieve the messages. Thus, only oneway copying is planned.
Do you expect comments if we need the plugin or for its (future) functionality?
Both if you want. But maybe this plugin is kind of too big for me. As I already said the next features would be to retrieve the messages and to switch the personal settings file.

Thank you for your comments so far.

Very useful plugin.
Add an option for selecting another than the default pst file in the plugin properties would be nice.
I need this too.

And yes, i would use it every day if could search strings or view the contents.

I have to admit that the MAPI is not well known to me. So I was thinking to make the current source public. However, I do not know any plugin beside fhRAR where open source lead to a common development. Hence there is no progress at this time. Sorry!

I just decided to release the source code for public development. This code release is the current snapshot of my efforts to improve the plugin.
