It's planned to change them, but since the main icon isn't final yet, I prefer to delay this until it's done.

I haven't yet decided whether the installer should just use the Total Commander icon, or some other icon. What do you think?

Any suggestions what such an icon should show? I want to keep some relationship with TC, so it should be a combination of the TC icon with something else...

A setup icon normally shows some kind of retail package of an application. So I guess a cardboard box and the TC icon would be good combination. It could be also a cardboard box in which the TC icon is printed.

Are you reading this?
Yes, I still follow the forum, though I'm a bit silent because of a serious lack of time...

The package idea is indeed nice. In what formats should this icon be available? I assume 16², 32² and 48²...

the 16² one could be a bit tricky (as always with this tiny canvas  ). I will see what I can figure out, but please be a little patient, it may take a little while...

No, 16x16 and 32x32 is sufficient - I don't want to make the installer EXE too big. The 16x16 is the most important one.

The TC7 RC1 installer is now using the new Total Commander icon.

Please see a version of the installer icon here: Screenshot.

I will try to further optimize it, bust this is all I could work out so far for the (tricky as always) 16² format.

What do you think?

I think the new icon needs some finetuning.

IMHO it's hardly recognizable that this should illustrate an opened package. There could be one or a mix of the following reasons:
- It's just too dark.
- You are mixing a flat disk with a 3D icon. All other TC disk + something else icons showing just flat additions.
- The opened part of the package is just difficult to recognize in 16²

Thanks fo your remarks!

I agree the current icon is not optimal, therefore I want to fish for ideas here :)
It's just too dark.
I'm already trying to find a better color, so let's see what I can manage.
You are mixing a flat disk with a 3D icon. All other TC disk + something else icons showing just flat additions.
I also would prefer to use a consistent style here, but a 2D package would look like a simple rectangle, so I decided to draw it in perspective. I can't imagine how this could be drawn in 2D. Any ideas anyone?
The opened part of the package is just difficult to recognize in 16²
I agree. That was all I could get so far, but I will see what can be improved.
