[suggestion] InplaceRenamePath improvement

Post by *Sombra »

Quote from help file:
InplaceRenamePath=1 Enable (1) / disable (0) inplace changing of current path. The default is the value of InplaceRename, if present, otherwise 1.
2: Disable inplace rename of path, but enable quick directory changes with single click (no shift needed)
Could be add a new value to InplaceRenamePath? Example: InplaceRenamePath=3

3: Enable inplace rename of path with shift pressed and quick directory changes with a single click. (It would switch default behavior when inplaceRenamePath=1)

(Idea from topics: Breadcrumbs, Scripts, etc. and [REQ] Breadcrumb navigation in "current directory")

Added: based on original idea from StickyNomad. ;)

And this doesn't even need a new value, like I alerady suggested here, it would suffice to make the behaviour of InplaceRenamePath=2 consistent to a setting of 1, so that with both settings navigation _and_ editing is possible (just the modifier function is 'swapped').

Here's the quote of my suggestion in the above mentioned thread:
IMHO setting InplaceRenamePath to 1/2 should completely toggle the behaviour.

1: click=edit path, Shift+Click=go to dir (like currently implemented)
2: click=go to dir, Shift+Click=edit path (red part missing)

I don't know why a setting of 2 does navigate with and without Shift, while 1 provides both features. Perhaps it has been simply missed...
I hope the author will consider this for a later version...

And this doesn't even need a new value
Hi StickyNomad,
Umhhh... i don't know if really the behaviour (missed edit path) for value=2 has been simply missed or it is intentional. I guess that not all people like the feature for change the path when do click in header panel, but they want change quickly to other directory with mouse.

IMHO i think that with the new value (3), all possibilities are covers.

Sure, I don't want to force my suggestion, I am flexible here.

And your suggestion would give users even more flexibility, so it would be fine for me.

Well, all right with you :) I hope that your option or the mine is added to Ghisler's TODO list. ;)
