Opening several url files in Firefox

Post by *aslaksen »

Hi,

I accidentally deleted some Firefox bookmarks. Fortunately I had them as IE bookmarks. I opened the folder with the IE bookmark URL files in TC, selected all of them, right-clicked and used open. They all opened, and I was happy! All the subdirs opened in windows explorer, too, but it was easy to close the whole group.

However, there were also some subdirectories in my URL folder, so I went into that subdir, and tried the same. This time around only one URL opened, namely the one that was under the cursor when I right-clicked.

After some time I realized the difference. If there are subdirs in my folder, then they all open, but if there are only files, only one open.

My workaround was to copy a small subdir into all my subdirs, and then remove it afterwards!

Is this a bug or a feature?

I realize that this may be a Firefox bug/feature.

Thanks!

It's probably a firefox problem - when you choose "Open" from the right click menu, Total Commander asks Windows to open all selected files.

But why should there be a difference depending on whether or not there are subdirectories in the directory or not? How can Firefox see that?

Thanks, anyway.

I tried this again today. Now my old trick doesn't work When there is a subdirectory, I'm instead asked to open them in KMP (a media player)!

The solution I found was to add a FF shortcut to the sendto folder and use that. That opens in a new FF window, but I can live with that.
