Bug (Vista32//TC7.02) Context menu->New->Contact

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Bug (Vista32//TC7.02) Context menu->New->Contact

Post by *HolgerK »

During testing of this fixed bug "Creating Shortcut in Windows Vista",
i found another similar bug:

Code: Select all

Context menu->New->Contact File(.contact)
doesn't work correct when called from TC context menu.
The vista dialog to enter the contact data is shown properly, but after applying with [Ok] a message box appears:

Code: Select all

Windows Contacts

Unable to create this contact

The location where this contact was to be saved is inaccessible
followed by a second box

Code: Select all

Windows Contacts

an unknown error occured while performing the requested action on this Contact
Anyhow a file with the name "New contact_wab_auto_file.contact" ( 0bytes ) is created.

Doing the same from explorer creates a non-empty file "FIRSTNAME LASTNAME.contact"

TC7.02a / Vista32 Ultimate Ger (both with English user interface)

Regards,
Holger

Unfortunately Vista uses a new undocumented method for file-new in addition to the documented methods. Microsoft does not want to document that new method, so it's impossible to support it in Total Commander.
