Editor filesize

Post by *khachmeister »

I like the editor that is included in TCP.
Sometimes when i start it an error message pops up that says that editor cannot load the selected file, because its size is more than 64 kB.

Is it possible to increase this value?
Using Acer n311 running Windows Mobile 5, Huawei Ideos X3 running Android 2.3.3, Samsung S3mini running Android 4.1.2, Amazon Fire TV running Android 5.2.x

No, unfortunately it's not possible to increase this value. The edit control starts to act strangely (e.g. lines not displayed, missing characters etc) if this limit is reached. I also made some tests with the Richink control, but it has other big problems like a non-functioning search function. It also starts to act strangely with files > 128k.

Aside from Word Mobile, there are only two PPC text editors I know of that can handle files beyond 64k, MADE (the author's site is down now, but I still have the program), and CKE. No further development in that one, either. Both are freeware and able to load and edit text files with sizes limited only by the device's memory. They can load multiple files, too, but both apps have some annoying bugs.

I've been using CKE for quite some time, as I discovered work-arounds for its bugs. It can't be used as a substitute for TCP's editor, however, as it expects file parameters to be passed in quotes ("%1").

MADE doesn't have that problem, so I've gotten it to work from TCP's editor button, but the program doesn't handle wordwrap correctly.

PS: I'm not a newcomer here. I made a major typo when changing my e-mail address, and only realized it after hitting Submit, so I had to open a new account.

Is it possible to split files into 64 K blocks and edit them separately, as in Opera Mini Mod by DG-SC (opera-mini.ru)?
We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...
