vim navigation keybindings for total commander

Post by *lakicsv »

Hi All,

Is there a way to redefine the "j" letter to be able to move down on the file list panel, the "k" letter to move up on the file panel - but of course make sure that when I need to edit they work as expected?

Thanks Viktor

Hello, Viktor.

<personal point of view>
Free yourself of bad Vim habits. :D Vim was created in a time when monitors displayed lightgreen text on dark green background and when cursor keys were not standard. Vim is not an editor, it is a p.i.t.a.
</personal point of view>

As far as I can tell there is no built-in way of using the letter "j" and "k" for moving up and down and preserving their normal function as letters, because T.C. is not a p.i.t.a. editor like Vim where you use the ESC key to switch between editing and command mode.

Kind regards,
Karl

See: Is there a tc command can move cursor down or up?

Brief, no there's not, but there is a workaround.
