Not the network---
Hello!
8 minutes 4 seconds!...
- I confirm.
I don't think... The network works normally for other handlings; i.e.,
I you copy only the same (2) files via the network, it works at a normal speed...
CABs files as RAR...
>> You have two files, 1.5 MB and ~500 KB, you select both...
>> You ask for "Pack files" (any mean: key, menu, or button in the bar like at home)...
>> You get the "Pack" dialog, in which you check "Move to archive"
and "RAR packer" (I chose RAR 3 because it's the fastest packer I've...)
>> You press "OK"... and you wait for the quoted time to end the operation!
¤ Network-cards are recent (10/100 Mbauds) and set as "Full Duplex"; they are connected through a "switch" (8-entry), recent too...
¤ In that case, both PCs run Win 98 SE (French)
¤ If you ask for simply "Move" (drag&drop+Alt), it's very slow too...
Something is faulty in Windows (following that Christian G. told me a while ago...), but it'ld be so useless to install another kind of network for only 2 (randomly 3) PCs at home, being not sure that it'ld work better...
¤ I wrote this post especially to know if other users had the same problem.
(I use W/TC for five years; I'm the French translator and more...)
Best regards,
friendly,
Claude

¤ There is not matter if the files to pack/move in the archive are CABs or other...what do you mean?
