BUG version 8 tooo...

Post by *DoubleMan »

Hi CHRISTIAN

Still same bug in TC...
I mean, why Tc does not refresh directory tree automaticly ??
When im downloadin lets say, a RAR archive, and it is not yet downloaded
TC shows [null] lenght of this file... First if i want to view, edit or play file currently downloading, and go back in main window of commander, AND refresh it manually, then TC shows real size of that file.

Greets from Germany, sorry for english....

Isn't that something you can choose for yourself?

WatchDirs=0

Controls the function of automatic dir list updates. It detects when programs other than Total Commander add, modify, or delete files shown in the active file panels.
Just add the following numbers:
1: turn option on (default: off)
2: also detect changes to size, date, attributes
4: put newly added files at the END of the file list (default: sorted)
8: don't react to updates while TC isn't in the foreground
16: Update footer (total number of files). Warning: May be slow in large dirs!
32: Update header (free disk space). Warning: May be slow on large harddisks!
256: Beep on each auto-update (useful for debugging)

EDIT: Wait.. I missed "tree" there.. I never use that so I don't know if that is affected by those settings.
Total Commander and Gaming. Only reasons left to use Windows.

WatchDirs has been set for the longest time in Windows 7 but the behavior is different than Win XP. The refresh rate on Win 7 is not as instantaneous as Win XP. Usually you have to do something in the panel to see file changes.

Windows 7 FindFirstFile/FindNextFile seems to report outdated numbers sometimes - apparently the system seems to do some caching here. You can go out of the folder and back in, and the number is still 0.

Sometimes it helps to try to access (View, Open) the file.
