TC 7.56; windows 7; save tab positions;
I switched to windows 7
TC does not save tab positions anymore
on XP when I closed and reopened TC it came up with the same tabs as before it was closed
anything I can do to save my tab positions?
I tried locking the tabs, did not help. TC always starts with 1 tab "C:/" in both left and right panel.
please, help

Not a problem there.
All check-boxes are checked
see the screen shots...
before TC close

after TC reopen

note: there were 3 locked tabs in the left panel before TC close and they are all reset to 1 tab with c:\ after TC reopen.

Where is your wincmd.ini located ?
On Win7 there are write restrictions on "Program Files" directory ...
your reply led me to start a little research.
so I diff my TC directories and compared them with some backup I have
I do have wincmd.ini split up and portions of it removed and put in a different ini file.
so that file was missing all together.
so happened that in that file there were
[righttabs] and [lefttabs] sections.
it did work though, surprisingly w-o complaining at all.
so I recovered that ini from the back up and it started working.
I have been using TC for many years and win7 for a few.
We I moved to a SSD harddisk, almost everything worked fine, but not TC does not save tab positions anymore.
I have only one wincmd.ini file on the pc. (and a wcx_ftp.ini file)
I have tried to restore an old version of wincmd.ini, but no luck
I have also tried to view the setting files from aabra1, but get an 403 error.
Which settings is defining that the tabs should be saved?
Any good ideas?

2Jesahl: First of all, verify the location of currently used setting files with "Help - About Total Commander".
Be sure that it is NOT at "Program Files" directory, which is usually causing problems on Win7.
At you WINCMD.INI file you will find saved entries at [righttabs] and [lefttabs] sections.
