Hello, Heinz.
tried the newest beta version
I assume this means Total Commander 8.0 beta 7.
As you do not mention 64-bit, I assume, too, it is the 32-bit version.
and from file view the context menu from 'SEND TO'
used to open a list (desktop/email/ZIP/my data and whatever) - NOW IT IS EMPTY.
went back to 7.56a, same result.
The fact that it affects Total Commander 7.56a and 8.0 beta7 suggests that the source of the problem need not be Total Commander itself.
Have you tried to use Sendto
+ Desktop (shortcut)
+ E-Mail
+ ZIP-folder
+ My data
inside Windows Explorer? If you do what are the results?

Here Total Commander displays all the listed targets in the Sendto context menu correctly, plus a few more targets, and sending a file to each of them works as expected.

Environment:

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1, 32-bit
Total Commander 8.0ß7 32-bit
(all current Windows updates installed)

This is what the Sendto folder looks like here:
Path: C:\Users\{account}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
[face=courier]Compressed (zipped) Folder.ZFSendToTarget .. 3 10.06.2009 23:27 -a--
Desktop.ini .............................. 558 14.07.2009 06:42 -ahs
Desktop (create shortcut).DeskLink ......... 7 10.06.2009 23:26 -a--
Dokumente.mydocs ........................... 0 08.06.2010 17:16 -a--
Fax Recipient.lnk ...................... 1.238 14.07.2009 06:42 -a--
Mail Recipient.MAPIMail .................... 4 10.06.2009 23:26 -a--[/face]
Are there other items in the right-click context menu which have started misbehaving in Total Commander / Windows Explorer lately?

Could it be that you have installed a new software which added new items to the context menu and that the problem started then?
In this case looking for a faulty shell extension might be the right approach. See Nir Sofer's ShellExView. This programme has been created in order to dig into context menu problems.

Kind regards,
Karl

Sir_SiLvA, tks a lot, very funny. what is wrong with you in berlin? too
cold already? alcohol? but dont worry, when i am drunk, i also write a lot
of nonsense. specially to people who ask for help, and might be nervous.

karlchen, a lot of effort in your answer, a big thank you. yes, 32bit and up
to 8.0b7 and back to 7.56a.

and naturally you are right in your guess: in EXPLORER and others the
SEND TO menu is also missing, so it has nothing to do with TC.

had thought that because the only thing i had really done in between was
a WIN7 update, and the 7.56a->8.0b7-7.56a trials.

assume WIN7 has somehow changed my admin account to something else,
no idea to what, when and why. maybe i should ask Sir_SiLva again?

tks also for the tip with ShellExView - lets see if i get anywhere with it. wish
all this was with WIN XP, then i would know quickly.

greetings - heinz -

One more: Please take in account that all items of Send To menu are retrieved from the SendTo folders (yes more than one)

1. C:\Users\{account}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo
2. C:\Users\Public\SendTo

Nevertheless it is important, that the menu is read from the folder of user the program is started by!

If you start TC being {account} normally, it is just {account}.
If you start TC being {account} as administrator, it is "administrator" !

yes, sga wizard, i actually found four (!) such SEND TO folders. now why does
everybody tell me WIN 7 is much easier ???

but i also found a fairly simple solution how to get the most important entries
back. have a look here:

done that, and all the ones i need are back.

so, for the rest of the night i will think 'WHY, oh WHY'.

a nice weekend to all of you. specially to berlin. - heinz -
