Tapatalk support for the forum?

Hi, would it be possible for you to add Tapatalk support for this forum?
Since now this is an Android sw also, I would expect that a lot of Android world users will like to see this forum via this tool...
I don't know if it's technically possible so take it more as a question...

There is a Tapatalk plugin for phpBB, but only for version 3 - our forum still uses version 2. I'm very reluctant to install phpbb3 because of the many possible problems (e.g. incompatibility with existing extensions, new security holes because of the increased complexity etc).

Da es sogar eine Android-Variante des TC gibt, wäre es nur konsequent, wenn man auch das Forum auf dem Smartphone vernünftig nutzen könnte.

Übrigens ist das Borad in der gegenwärtigen Version aus geschützen Netzen z. T. nicht abrufbar ("Your technical support key is: 4d57-e064-a52f-0448"). Vielleicht würde sich das mit Version 3 ja ändern?

Was genau meinen Sie mit "geschützten Netzen"? Netze, wo ghisler.ch explizit blockiert ist? Oder nur eine begrenzte Anzahl Domains erlaubt?

wäre auch immer noch dafür. Tapatalk macht die benutzung von Foren um so viel einfacher und lesbarer auf dem Smartphone.

Leider wird phpbb2 von Tapatalk nicht unterstützt. Vor dem Umstieg auf phpbb3 graut mir aus vielen Gründen: Ich habe sehr viele Addons installiert, auch selbst geschriebene. Ausserdem wird die Userdatenbank des Forums fürs Login im Wiki verwendet. Ich habe leider schlicht nicht die Zeit, all die vielen Anpassungen zu machen.

This has been suggested before. Unfortunately it would require an update to the forum software, but I have made a lot of modifications which would all be lost.

So maybe it's time to upgrade the forum and to organize everything? Maybe you can to restore all your settings and modifications.
Or maybe to create another phpbb forum only for android with tapatalk plugin in it and to sync the database between the forums.

I think installing phpbb3 is quite sensible decision. Besides its incompatibility and potential security holes, it comprises more features and strengthened security level.
Among the facts about phpbb2, found in Wiki are:

phpBB2 was never officially supported under PHP 5

Official support for phpBB2 ended on January 1, 2009,[33] and the 2.0.x support forums have been locked. Furthermore all development for phpBB2, including security patches, has ceased as of February 1, 2009

Which make you statements about phpbb3 over phpbb2 security advantages untenable.

I have adapted phpBB2 myself to PHP 5. When there was an attack in the past, I personally rewrote the one insecure function: phpBB was executing php code created "on the fly" with user input, which is a very bad idea. I replaced that with code which doesn't require self-generated code. This experience made me doubt in the capabilities of the phpBB creators.
