organize browser favorites bookmarks using TC

Post by *nn1k3 »

Each IE favorite is an individual file, so I can quickly rename and shuffle and reorganize them using TC without touching the mouse.

Alas, I cannot shuffle Firefox bookmarks using TC.

So I Googled this phrase:
organize favorites bookmarks "total commander"
and found "tidyfavorites."
Then I noticed a 2009 post in this forum that mentioned that tidyfavorites had been infected.

Any advice on using TC to organize Firefox bookmarks?

To my knowledge this is no longer possible because Firefox now stores its bookmarks in a database.

I have exactly the same problem! I first tried Tidy Favorites, but had lots of problems. Then I discovered PlainOldFavorites. It's a FF extension that simply allows me to read and write to the IE favorites folder from FF, using a Favorites menu item next to the Bookmarks menu item. I have just started using it, but it looks promising.

The only problem I've encountered so far is that if I select multiple URL files in TC and try to right-cllick and open, I only open the one under the cursor. The solution I found was to add a FF shortcut to the sendto folder and use that. That opens in a new FF window, but I can live with that.
