When I choose to move a file (F6) from a local drive to an external USB2 drive using F2 Queue option (and there are already files being moved in the queue), both TC main window and Move window tend to freeze for a while.
Is this a Windows or TC issue? Are there any workarounds for it?
This issue is (still) present in 8.0RC2, but I've been noticing it for a while (with one or a few previous versions, unfortunately I didn't keep track).
I currently use TC 8.0RC2 32-bit on Win7 64-bit, "Use standard copy method" is checked.
F2 Queue temporarily freezes TC

Looks like you have too slow drive...
Try enabling "noreread" for it.

Hi, commodore. I think you just bumped into an old issue caused by Windows's disk cache (and TC's inability do deal with it). Check this thread if it applies to your problem.
Windows 10 Pro x64, Windows 11 Pro x64
The point is that if you try to add a new job to BTM during the "90%-and-then-slow-down", TC will freeze for a wile. If your TC freezes only during that phase, it's the same problem, if it freezes always, then it's something different.commodore wrote:The "quickly-to-90%-and-then-slow-down" definitely also happens ...

Afair TC's internal older copy method:Are there any workarounds for it?
"Configuration -> Options... : Copy/Delete
[_] Use standard copy method"
( http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=219289#219289 )
bypasses the windows disk cache, but may be slower and incompatible with some network drives.
