Tracking down a problem with Edit-Directory-In-Place
I have spoken via email with Christian about the following problem but he can not duplicate it, so I was wondering if anyone else has encountered it.
In using the new edit-in-place feature of the directory title bar, I find odd behavior (on a bunch of different machines and OS's) as follows: if the directory contains spaces (i.e.,
c:\Program Files\Total Commander\Plugins\
), sometimes Ctrl+LeftArrow will operate as expected (that is, the first time it moves to the "P" in "Plugins" and the second time it moves to the "T" in "Total Commander"), and sometimes it will not. Specifically, I
1) click once on the title bar
2) press Ctrl+LeftArrow
The cursor is now positioned at the "C" in "Commander, not at the "P" in "Plugins"
3) press Ctrl+LeftArrow
The cursor is now at "T" in "Total Commander"
4) press Ctrl+RightArrow
The cursor is now at "P" in "Plugins" (as expected)
5) press Ctrl+LeftArrow
The cursor is now at "T" in "Total Commander" (as expected)
Shift+Ctrl+Arrow works similarly incorrectly:
1) click once on the title bar
2) press Shift+Ctrl+LeftArrow
Highlight is on "c:\Program Files\Total"
3) press Shift+Ctrl+LeftArrow
Highlight is on "c:\Program"
4) press Shift+Ctrl+RightArrow
Highlight is on "c:\Program Files\" (as expected)
5) press Shift+Ctrl+RightArrow
Highlight is on "c:\Program Files\Total Commander\" (as expected)
6) press Shift+Ctrl+LeftArrow
Highlight is on "c:\Program Files\Total"
As you can see, this behavior is odd and hard to describe. But it is very consistent on all my machines, so I was wondering if anyone else noticed it.
Thanks!

The same on NT4SP6a. Everything works fine (as expected) excpet one case: if there is a text selection and moving the right edge of it - it moves finding spaces. Christian, try this one more time considering this. I repeat just in case: click on title bar, press Ctrl+Shift+Left (Shift in order the selection not to disappear). Right edge of selection (where the cursor is) should move to a space, not to the path delimiter.
[face=courier]Confirm on NT4SP6a&w2kSP3. First time cursor always lands before the last space in the path, then it works like expected.[/face]

I have tried it on several Windows versions, but it always works as it should! Maybe some programs running in the background cause this, or some special settings? Please try this: rename wincmd.ini so TC uses the default settings, and then try to reproduce the error.

Ah, I see - in this case, my own code isn't used, but the Windows code, because already all text is selected.
