[Possible] Bug when restarting a HDD from stand by mode.

Post by *avada »

Hi!
After a while of disuse windows shuts down the HDD. Which wouldn't be a problem. But if I have a TC tab open with that drive and want open a folder/file, it becomes unreadable. Meaning I have to disconnect the drive if I'm lucky enough and Windows lets me or restart the computer or in the worst case I have to run chkdsk because that's the only way to make the folder/file readable again.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Seriously? I'm pretty sure this is not a "Windows flaw" as there are tons of possible reasons: driver problem is just one of them (and the most probable one). So you should check of there is an update for your drivers available (HDD controller, Chipset etc). You should check your memory with Memtest86+, too.

IIRC, there was a Windows bugfix for a similar problem a year or two ago. Make sure your Windows is properly updated. However, this might be also a hardware error. Have you tried connecting that disk to another computer?
