Exploring Nokia X2 via Media-mode with USB looses some info

Post by *MaxX »

When I connect my X2-00 to PC via USB cable and select the "media" mode (not usual "flash-drive", which I can use instead but don't need to) on my phone I can't browse normally.

In this mode I get "Nokia" device in my drive-letters list both in Explorer and TC, it's good, but browsing it with TC does not work good -> TC looses files' extensions and sizes. Explorer works fine and shows me both of them normal.

Any ideas?

X2 is a just regular phone with simple OS (not smartphone), and the same trouble must appear with any other phone or player/ipod too...

If the extensions and sizes aren't shown, they aren't provided to TC via the used IShellFolder interface. Explorer uses IShellView, but that means that the entire listview is replaced by a custom one. Therefore it cannot be used in TC.

However, when you copy the files to the local harddisk, the file extensions should show up just fine.

F3 works with local files only. For example, if you do this on the Desktop, TC converts the virtual location to a real path, and passes that to the viewer. This isn't possible with files on other devices.

May be, any plugins exist for this? Windows detects my X2 as an usual media-device (like player, camera...).
Can you help me?
