TC 64 and Office 2010

Post by *ndn »

Can someone please point me to a 64 Bit lister plug in which will allow me to display Office 2010 native files in TC.

Do I need this to Find Files search for text in docx files?

Cheers

Same to me, looking for a possibility to search for text inside the WORD.docx files.

Text inside older .doc files can be found.

Try enabling "search in archives".
New 2007/2010 format is a simple zip with xml inside.
Ukrainian Total Commander Translator. Feedback and discuss.

Try enabling "search in archives".
For that to work you might have to add somthing like this to the [Configuration] section of your wincmd.ini:
SearchInFiles=*.docx *.xlsx
License #524 (1994)
Danish Total Commander Translator
TC 11.03 32+64bit on Win XP 32bit & Win 7, 8.1 & 10 (22H2) 64bit, 'Everything' 1.5.0.1371a
TC 3.50 on Android 6 & 13
Try: TC Extended Menus | TC Languagebar | TC Dark Help | PHSM-Calendar

Use the x64 version of Ulister together with the Oracle Outside In viewers.
This allows to view almost anything.

Thanks to Horst.Epp, I have installed Ulister and can display DOCX, XLSX etc documents in TC 64., once I worked out where to place the Oracle DLL's.

I haven't yet been able to search for text in docx documents despite trying the two suggestions?

Cheers

Yes, but does "search in archives" work if you do not have SearchInFiles=*.docx *.xlsx - it shouldn't

That's right: Enabling "search in archives" AND adding to wincmd.ini like:

Code: Select all

[Configuration]
SearchInFiles=*.docx *.xlsx

I have the 8.01, 64-bit Commander for Windows 7, and the line "SearchInFiles=*.docx *.xlsx" is in the wincmd.ini file, but I cannot search Word files. I click on the "Search archives" option, but it doesn't work.

You should only use the SearchInFiles-Method if you know what you're doing.
Better use a plugin for searching in these files, preferably TextSearch which can convert docx and xslx, but also the old .doc format and it also has a 64-bit version.
For viewing, as already mentioned, use uLister, it works great!

All of these newer XML-based document formats use UTF-8 for encoding.
So if you really want to use the manual search, at least enable the UTF-8 checkbox in the search parameters, especially if you're searching for non-ASCII strings.

1. Do not put *.docx in the "Search for" field. Leave it empty, or put *.xml because the actual text is stored in xml files inside the docx.
2. Make sure the "Search archives" option is checked.

Problems viewing Office2010 using uLister:
I have followed the instructions in readme.txt to the letter, but no matter where I Place the Redist catalog (or its files), I still get "Outside ln dlls not found in plugin dir". The only thing that differs from the instructions, is that Oracle only offers a newer Version (ca-8-4-1-win-x86-64.zip).
Any hints?
