Multi Rename Issue "Net Neighbourhood"(SharePoint)
I'm not sure if I will use the correct terms, but will try my best to explain.
1. Issue
I work on some SharePoint (SP) document uploading. There are already some files on the SP that I previously uploaded and that need to be renamed.
So, since IE is very slow and there are some compatibility issues with Firefox and/or Chrome, I tried going there using TC ->"Network Neighbourhood" ->"Drop Box Library"->etc... When I get to the list of files that are on SP in the "Drop Box Library" it allows me to rename a single file at a time and the change is visible on SP webpage immediately (after refreshing the page, of course). But, when I tried multi rename here, it says "Error, could not rename the files in bold!" (bold were all selected files).
Just in order to re-check, I tried again to rename one of the bold files, and it worked. o_O ?
Does anyone have any idea how to bypass this problem (if possible).
2. Issue
Another "issue" (more visual than actual) is that the file names mentioned start with project numbers e.g. "D.01234". TC shows them as named only "D" and the rest it understands as the extension.
E.g. if there is a file named:
"D.1234 Functional Spec Rev0 PR 20090319" (note that there is no extension with online/uploaded files, but it's .pdf if that helps)
TC shows it as
"D" and then under extension column there is "1234 Functional Spec Rev0 PR 20090319"
Thanks very much, I hope you got the picture.
Let me know if you need more info.
Does anyone knows how to deal with the issues mentioned above?
Cheers!

Are you using a plugin to access the files? Or ftp?

Then how do you access the files? I do not understand it from your initial report, sorry.

Hi ghisler,
As I mentioned in the initial post, I'm not sure if I will use the correct terms, but will try my best to explain.
I log in to the website where I'm supposed to upload the documents. Then, when I click on Net Neibourhood button (in Total Commander) I can see:
\\Web Folders\Drop Box Library on www.[address]
\\Web Folders\My Web Sites on MSN\
\\Web Folders\Project_Document on www.[address]
When I open the first one - "Drop Box Library" - I can see the uploaded files there. I'm not really sure if there are any plugins etc.
If this can help: Total Commander Version 8.0 32 bit (2012-05-23).
If this is not enough info...I don't know... Let me know if I can find it somewhere in the TC. If not, no worries, thanks for the good will to help. I'll try not to make mistakes before the upload process, so I won't have to bulk rename files.
Cheers!

Hi vo,
I would recommend the use of Christian Ghisler's WebDav plugin (see https://plugins.ghisler.com/fsplugins/webdav.zip). I've just tested if I could use the multirename feature on a bunch of files on a sharepoint location and it worked fine. If that does not work for you, it is probably a matter of access rights.
Note that while configuring access to the folder, you should use the http:// address as shown in IE and not the webfolder location on the network.
Regards, EricB

Hi EricB,
I installed and tried what you recommended, but again I can only rename one file at a time. Multi rename shows the same message as mentioned before. I checked address and it's fine, so then, as you said, I guess it's a matter of access rights. I'll check with my colleague.
Thanks to both of you,
vo

1. Regarding dropbox: You should better copy the files to the local dropbox folder, and let dropbox itself do the uploads.
2. You can choose to show extensions directly after file names in Configuration - Options - Tabstops. The "Ext" header will still remain, so you can sort by extension.
