I use a lot of substitutes of long complex paths as separate hard disk letters. e.g. : subst z: c:\Users\user\Documents\1Pda\2-Notes
I do this for quick and easy access.
I suggest using the same color for the real disk and substituted disks so the user can easily distinguish that all those drive letters are on the same disk.
If that is not easy or somehow breaks the UI, just add special icons similar to the networked mapped disks.
