Please help with multi-rename

Post by *jaypeetee »

I have a situation where I am trying to remove the prefix in several layers of folder names and content within each folder, but I am apparently doing something wrong.

For example, I have a setup like this:
->710 - winbrook (FOLDER)
->710 account (SUB-FOLDER)
->710 2007 (SUB-FOLDER)
->710 2007 budgets (SUB-FOLDER)
->710 monthly (FILE)
->710 propery (FILE)

So I want to search for everything from the top folder down with "710 - ", highlight them all, then rename them. When I use the multi-rename, only the top folder is renamed, nothing below.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

If you have structure where you need to rename multiple levels simultaneously, you need to do this in reversed order. So, in case of path like X:\710-one\710-two\710-three you need to rename 710-three first, then 710-two and 710-one last (in other case TC won't find second item after renaming the first one). You only need to switch file order in MRT window by clicking on 'Old name' column header (note that you should enable option to sort folders like files in 'Configuration - Display' dialog before).
