TC crashes when the Directory Hotlist points to a SubNetwork

Post by *nachtwei »

I use TC8.01 under Win 7 Ultimate in a VM (in Vmware).
Drive letter Z: is assigned to the root of the VM's Shared Folders.
If I assign Directory Hotlist pointers (CTRL-D) to sub-dirs of Z: (e.g. m1 for "cd Z:\mmm" and n1 for "cd Z:\nnn"), Directory Hotlist works as expected.

Now I have assigned new SubNetwork drive letters to sub-dirs of Z: (e.g. M: to Z:\mmm and N: to Z:\nnn). Manual changedir to M: and N: works well, e.g. via Alt-F1 or the TC command line ("cd N:\").

But if I create a Directory Hotlist entry that performs this changeDir (e.g. n2 for "cd N:\"), then calling this new Directory Hotlist entry (e.g. n2) will reliably crash TC.

Since it executes well as a command-line command ("cd N:\"), it probably has to do with the way TC executes Directory Hotlist commands internally.

So I can't use Directory Hotlist shortcuts in my SubNetwork drives.
I would be glad about a solution.
Thanks for reading and understanding.

vmhgfs.dll is part of Vmware, so it seems to be a Vmware problem.

Could you send me a crash dump? To get it, you need to
1. Reproduce the error
2. While Windows is showing the error dialog, do not click on any buttons in it. Instead, open a second copy of Total Commander
3. Go to the TEMP directory, e.g. with cd %temp%
in the TC command line
4. Look for a new file with extension .dmp or .cab. It may be in a subdirectory. Send me this dump, so I can analyze it with windbg.

Solved, thanks!

Yes, it was a VMware problem.
After updating the VMware tools package to the most recent version, TC does not crash anymore.
Sorry for bothering you with something that was not a TC problem.
Thank you!
