Windows 8
Ran the "Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant" on my computer this morning, and it balked at Total Commander.
I'm running 8.01/64 on my Win7/64 machine, and it's not explicitly listed as "not compatible", but.. well, look at what it said..

So my basic question is this. Does this work in Windows 8?

It looks like it is TC's uninstaller (tcunin64.exe), not the TC application itself (totalcmd64.exe) that Windows 8 doesn't like.

Re: Windows 8
I upgraded from Win7/32 on a Toshiba laptop to Win8; TC 8.01/32 works perfectly. In fact, so far it's been a real lifesaver: as things now stand with this new Win8 interface I would be unable to find *ANYTHING* without TC.Joe Siegler wrote:Ran the "Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant" on my computer this morning, and it balked at Total Commander.

I've never appreciated TC more than I do right now.

Hmm, tells me to not upgrade to Win8

I wouldn't go *that far*. There are some things about Win8 that I've already come to like and I think as I acquire more apps specifically designed for the new interface (or a laptop with a touch screen) I'll like it even more.petermad wrote:as things now stand with this new Win8 interface I would be unable to find *ANYTHING* without TC.

From the Start screen or any Run box or command prompt (Such as TC's) that you can fetch up, type 'netplwiz' and take it from there. Enjoy!sticazzi wrote:I really hate Modern UI (pointless on desktop/notebook PCs)
A bit of relief: Bypass Modern UI

Naa, It's not the same matter (read CAREFULLY my link), 'cause I don't want to see Modern UI AND obviously the Start Screen at startup (your link/page said "Restart Windows. Windows now bypasses the lock screen and the log-in screen to automatically take you to the Start screen."), so straight from startup to desktop.gezgin wrote: From the Start screen or any Run box or command prompt (Such as TC's) that you can fetch up, type 'netplwiz' and take it from there. Both TC and the installer and uninstaller are fully compatible with Windows 8. I don't know why they would report the uninstaller as not compatible, there are no known problems.

Not confirmed here using TC 8.01 x64 under Windows 8 Prothoor1 wrote:There is a problem with TC and windows 8. When I want to delete one or more big files it´s not possible and TC is hanging. When I start it again the file/files are gone. Solution?
I can for example delete a 2.6 GB file without any problem !

Make sure to use TC 7.57a or newer. Older versions may crash in the delete function of Windows 8.
