How to change stops to spaces in video filename?

I have been using MRT (Multi Rename Tool) to change full stops to spaces in video filenames but it is a tedious process....

Change all "full stops" to "spaces" then change "space"avi back to "stop"avi

Does anyone know how to do it in one change?

For instance:-

Change

This.Is.A.Long.Name.for.a.video.avi

To

This Is A Long Name for a video.avi

The problem is the same for mkv's or wmv's or asf's etc etc

Search & Replace
...
[E] Also replace the search text within the extension.
Rules for the case that this option is not checked:
1. When using the rename mask, only the part in "File name" will be modified by search+replace.
2. When loading the names from an external text file, the part starting with the last dot will not be modified.
Example: To replace all dots in the file name except for the one separating name and extension, uncheck this box.
