Search in multiple epubs for text
I've got many E-books and need to search for text within the epub files. Epubs are like zipfiles with a different extension.
In Help section 4b is stated that one can add the SearchInFiles= option to search in other archives than zip and rar, etc. So I added SearchInFiles=*.epub to the [Configuration] section in wincmd.ini, but it does not seem to work. If I rename the file to a zip extension, search works within the archive like normal.
I'm using v8.01 on XP-SP3.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance, any tips on this subject are appreciated.

For me it works fine with TC 8.01 x64 and x86.Jackall wrote:Sharp! Sorry about that, that was a typo only in my post above, not within the ini file. I corrected it in my first post, thanks.
I did enable the "Search Archives" option.
When renaming the epub file to a zip file, search works correctly within the archive.
May be you have the setting not in the [Configuration] section of the wincmd.ini or your TC is using the ini from another location.
Thanks for your quick response, Horst, really appreciate it!
I've put it at the firstline:
[Configuration]
SearchInFiles=*.EPUB
InstallDir=C:\Program Files\totalcmd
firstmnu=1774
FirstTime=0
test=207
UseRightButton=0
Savepath=1
Savepanels=1
MarkDirectories=1
-- etc
When changing options from within TC the filedate changes, so it must be the right one. Also I did not find the ini file anywhere else.
I've read somewhere that a registry setting could prevent TC from processing the epub archive because of it's association.
But the only association it has is configured for the Sony Desktop reader application. I need it for reading my e-books on my pc.

For me it works without any association and also after I associate it with the Calibre e-Book viewer.Jackall wrote: ---

I don't think that TC uses any registry entries while searching.
May be Christian has more tips.
Hi Jackall,
I've experimented a bit and things will work when using the Total7zip wcx plugin. In Configuration -> Packer associate extension epub with Total7zip and it is recognized as a valid archive, which can be searched for text in Find Files dialog.
Disadvantage is that the icon shown for epub files is the standard TC packer icon and double clicking or enter key will open the archive as a folder, just as with any other archive. However, when using shift-enter instead, the normal association (SumatraPDF in my case) is run.
HTH,
