I recently moved from XP to Vista. I don't want to disable UAC as I regard it as an important security measure. I have adjusted TC to work as I want in Vista but there are some nagging problems.
When I start a large ( >1gb) exe auto extractor TC remains frozen until the extractor finishes. I can't switch to the other pane or do anything. Is this UAC related ? Or is there some other way to free TC ? If there is none I guess I can live with opening another copy of TC.
The other problem is not being able to see some folders such as the ones in MyDocuments (C:/User). I have to open Explorer to see them. I could run Tc as administrator but this would nullify the usefulness of UAC. Plus I'm not running Explorer as admin so how come it can see those folders ?
Any help appreciated !

No, this is because some extractors are not "threadsafe" which inhibits TC to run them in background.I can't switch to the other pane or do anything. Is this UAC related ?
Try to enable view of hidden files (Configuration - Options - Display : Show hidden/system files)The other problem is not being able to see some folders

Ah, thanks. I'd forgotten about that option. Now I can see everythingTry to enable view of hidden files (Configuration - Options - Display : Show hidden/system files)The other problem is not being able to see some folders

"Total command ... Make it so !" Quoted from the Picard philosophy of computer usage.
Starting with vista MS decided to reorganize the My xyz folders:
http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows-vista/What-happened-to-My-Documents
Enabling show hidden/system will only shows you compatibility links with names used in XP (primary used for programs with fixed path strings and not meant as navigation help for the user):
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/930890
It's better to get used to the new folder structure
C:\Users\<username>\Documents
C:\Users\<username>\Music
C:\Users\<username>\Pictures
...
Btw. Explorer may show names like My xyz (or even translated names from your language), but these are only display names (you can click into Explorer path bar to see the real path).
TC always shows the directory names as they are stored on the disk.
