Incorrect file names on Android 4

Post by *yyang »

With version 2.01 on my Samsung Note 2 (running Android 4.1.1), some file names with Chinese characters are displayed incorrectly. For example, "最新通俗美语词典.2006.高克毅.djvu" is displayed as:
http://postimage.org/image/e6a8qwjjr/
Trying to click-open the file will get an error.

It's all OK with ZAchiver on the same phone:

I used version 2.01 on a Samsung Galaxy I-9001 (running Android 2.3.7) and nothing was wrong about file names. Please look into this issue. Thanks a lot!

This means that the used font does not contain these characters. Please try to choose a different font in the configuration of Total Commander.

I don't think so. "美" is a very common character in Chinese (top 300 or so), and I'm sure the default Droid Sans font contains it. I've tried other font as suggested, but the same problem is still there. Thanks.

Hmm, no idea - I have just created the file with copy&paste of the above name on my Windows PC and copied it to my nexus 7 - the name is displayed just fine. But my regional settings are set to German (Switzerland).

I've tried the same file on a Galaxy Nexus 3 running Android 4.2.1, and the name is correctly displayed. Both phones are set to Chinese locale. A major difference I can tell is that my Note 2 is rooted while the Nexus 3 is not. Yet on the Note 2 the file names are all OK with ZArchiver as well as with the built-in file explorer.

Sorry, still no idea - TC doesn't display the name by itself, this is done entirely by Android. Maybe it depends on the display language you choose in TC's settings? Try different options, like default, English, and Chinese.
