TC 8.0 always refreshes panel content every second

Post by *nalott »

I have a very slight problem which annoys me quite heavily. TC refreshes the panels every second no matter how the appropriate option is set in preferences (auto refresh is off). Every second an hourglass (blue disk) appears briefly which really is annoying. If some process changes free disk space shown in a panel - it gets refreshed. But if the disk which is being changed is not displayed in TC, the behavior is the same (blue disk every second).
I have 2 network folders mapped but nothing special. Windows 7 64bit. On another machine which is very similarly set up (TC is set up absolutely the same) I'm not experiencing this. This means its not solely TC's problem. But TC must be involved if it refreshes the free disk space even when not set up this way. Or am I missing something?
Any suggestions on this?

It seems that some program is constantly sending refresh requests to Total Commander. There are two mechanisms which may be causing this:
1. File change notifications: You can turn them off in Configuration - Options - Refresh - Lower half of the dialog.
2. Drive insert/remove notifications. Please add the following string to the file wincmd.ini, section [Configuration]:
DeviceChange=0
You can edit the wincmd.ini via Configuration - Change settings files directly.

Christian, thank you for a quick help. In the configuration menu everything has been off. So I added a DeviceChange=0 to ini and it seems fixed.
