TC Context Menu in Windows 7

Some context menu items which are in place on my XP machine in TC are not there in Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. In particular two items from Bitdefender.

How do I reinstate these right-click items ?

The main difference is: XP is 32-Bit while Win 7 is 64-bit.

Context menu entries of 64-bit programs are at context menu of 64-bit TC or at submenu "X64" of 32-bit TC.

I was going to say "I know that !" but that isn't strictly true: There are 32-bit and 64-bit versions of both XP and Windows 7.

No they aren't on the X64 pane nor in the 'Configure' option of the X64 pane.

It's 32-bit. I'll try to get a 64-bit copy.

Explorer in 64-bit Windows shows 64-bit shell extensions only. TC shows such extensions in X64 context submenu. If you have no such items there, you may try to consider it as a bug (but maybe it is a bug of Bitdefender which works with Explorer only).

Please install the combined 32+64bit version of Total Commander. Then check the context menu in both and let us know in which the menu items are shown. If they aren't shown at all, please check the same also in Explorer.

In XP the context items are present in both TC and Explorer.

In Windows-7 64-bit:

- running the 32-bit version, there are no context menu items in TC, but they are present in Exploref.

- running the 64-bit version the context menus are present in both TC and Explorer.

Just by the way, Bitdefender is one application that is not visible in the X64 submenu and is only visible when using the 64-bit TC.

I see - so apparently BitDefender is installing only the 64-bit shell extension on 64-bit Windows, but not the 32-bit shell extension. Unfortunately this is a known bug of many programs.

You should also check whether the menu items appear in the special "x64" submenu of the 32-bit version. If not, they are using an uncommon method not supported by TC.

It would seem that way. Unfortunately it is nearly impossible to get the Romanians at Bitdefender's support to understand the simplest problem.

You should also check whether the menu items appear in the special "x64" submenu of the 32-bit version. If not, they are using an uncommon method not supported by TC.

The context menu items on the X64 extension of 32-bit TC do not include the Bitdefender extensions although they do include those for Malwarebytes.

Your last chance would be to check whether the BitDefender program accepts command line parameters - and if yes, define an internal association (additional verb only) to call BitDefender with the file to check.

They should show up in "x64" submenu. If not, then Bitdefender is using a non standard "hack" to add their menu items. Then there is no chance to see them in TC 32-bit.
