ESC-Key stuck warning => please implement for Sync Dir fe

Post by *seb- »

Hi,

i just had the problem that the Sync tool just did not want to start Comparing the directories.

After 20minutes of trying to find out the reason why it didnt start comparing, i just gave up and wanted to copy some files manually.

When pressing F5 to copy, suddenly a warning message appeared that said:

"ESC Key seems stuck. Press it to unblock it".

I pressed the ESC Key some times to unblock it (my keyboard usually blocks CTRL or WIN key few times a week, so i'm used to this - but never had it with Esc Key).

Then i tried to sync again - WORKS....

Wouldn't it make sense to copy the ESC key warning feature to the sync tool?

thx

Before anyone wonders how Esc could cancel comparing directories (Shift-F2), this thread is about the Synchronize directories tool.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Yes thats correct. I thought this was obvious enough from the Topic of the thread. But thanks for making it more clear.

Apparently no comment yet :-/

I don't think this is a message generated by Total Commander - I cannot find the message in the executables.

Wouldn't it make sense to copy the ESC key warning feature to the sync tool?
If I am right, there is nothing to copy.

You should have looked for "The ESC key seems to have stuck - press it to unstick!" in totalcmd.exe or "ESCcheck=1" in wincmd.ini. :)

"The ESC key seems to have stuck - press it to unstick!"
Rather - that is what seb- should have written ;-)

But since it really is a TC feature, I support that it is enabled for the sync tool as well. And maybe at the same time make the message translatable if possible.

Yes, it's a TC feature beacause some people had such inexplicable aborted transfers caused by a stick ESC key...

That wouldn't be difficult - when should it be checked, before the compare or the copy phase?

I think checking it before compare would be enough. You could then unblock the ESC Key and it shouldn't get stuck too soon again ;)

But if its not a big problem, why not check it during copy phase as well...

thx!
