Sorry, I don't think you can do that. TC, just like Windows, stores thumbnail cache in one centralized location. TC allows you to change the location, but it will still be just one specific folder.

If you don't mind me asking, why do you think that having loads of thumb.db files all around your hard drive is convenient? It always irritated me in WinXP. What's the advantage?

Me too, I hate theese files, they always go to places where they aren't needed at all (e.g. archives).

The primary advantage of a centralized cache of data is that it makes searching across many folders much more efficient, but this advantage normally does not accrue for thumbnail image data. One rarely has a need to search inside the raster data of thumbnails, so a centralized store for thumb images is just a "choice", not a necessity.

The disadvantages of a centralized cache relate to cache file size, seek/lookup times, and speed of synchronization when the source data changes and the stored version needs update. Central thumbnail caches become unwieldy quite rapidly. For instance, the central thumbnail cache maintained by one of my image tools is a single file > 2Gb).

The advantages of "local" thumbnail caching (an individual cache file stored in each relevant folder) include much smaller file size, speedy access/update, and portability (the cache automatically goes with its associated images when the folder is copied to a new location).

Some situations warrant centralized thumbnail caching. Others benefit from a folder-local approach. Users should be allowed to choose.
