Easy access to network drives

Post by *Jesahl »

I used to see "Network" in root of drives, but now it is gone??
I could use the "My Computer" view (Ctrl+F8), or make my own shortcut, but it was so nice to have in root of drives.
What to do?

At wincmd.ini set:
ShowParentDirInRoot=1

Or select "Configuration" -> "Options..." -> "Display" -> "File display" -> "Show parent dir [..] also in root of drive"

Thanks for fast reply.
The strange thing is that I have already set " "Show parent dir [..] also in root of drive" and wincmd.ini is set to ShowParentDirInRoot=1.
But I can only see the drive letters in the "Computer view", not the wanted "Network".

AFAIK \\network\ has ever been shown in the root.

Something puzzles me in your screenshot http://ahlers.dk/div/tc_network.jpg : You are obviously using a Danish (modified) menu and a Danish language file with your TC. But in a Danish Windows 7 or Windows 8 the Network directory should show up as \\Netværk\ in the "Current directory" bar not as \\Network\. Are you using an English Windows?

Furthermore the last item in the network panel shows <Refresh>.lnk - it should show <Genindlæs>.lnk when you are using a Danish language file with TC, unless you have modified the language file too.

Is your screen dump a mockup pasted together from different versions of TC ?

It is correct that I have using a mixture of english and danish with my own menu, sorry for that. I have installed TM again purely in english.

I think you are right that the "network" has never been seen in the root dir, but I think there was an ".." which gave me access to "network".

PS It was not a mock up

Hmm, the [..] has always opened the "Computer" overview. That's the name under Windows 7 and 8, under Windows XP it is called "Denne computer" (in Danish) - it does not contain Network.

What you might remember is the Tree view (in panel (Ctrl+F8) or separate tree (Ctrl+shift+F8) - they both have Network as part of the tree. You can also access Network via the breadcrumb menu - see http://madsenworld.dk/tcmd/netvaerk.png
