KeePass Auto-type use in "URL" (FTP new connection

Post by *Omen »

I've found a problem after update from 7.56a to 8.01 with the proper reaction for the KeePass Auto-Type functionality.

Reproduction process:
1. Run TC 8.01.
2. Click on the button "URL" in order to open an ftp window.
3. Open KeePass, chose the predefined AutoType instruction for "ftp" window and run it.
4. You are automatically moved back to the "ftp" window in TC, however the URL cannot be input by the keepass as it worked in 7.56a.

I haven't checked this specific case, but maybe the title of the dialog changed? Keepass seems to use the title of the dialog to recognize it.

It's still ftp as I can see. Visually I see no difference between 7.56a and 8.01. When I open 7.56a, it works. When use 8.01, it doesn't.
Supplementarly, my custom autotype definition for ftp window in my KeePass is set to:
{URL}{TAB} {ENTER}{DELAY 1000}{UserName}{ENTER}{DELAY 1000}{Password}{ENTER}

I've checked that also on Win7, Win8 and Win8.1 - the same problem on each of that systems.

Hmm, no idea - the only known problem is with entering the master password on Windows 8.1.

One last idea: Maybe you are running TC with higher user rights (as administrator)? Programs with normal user rights cannot send messages to programs with higher rights.

Correct, that was the problem. Thanks a lot for your help.

The only curious thing is, if that higher user rights were not assigned to TC by default... here we had a more new computers with newly downloaded version 8.01, and everywhere it is set to be run with Administrator's rights. And I don't remember I set it myself...
The question then is, if it is needed at all for TC to work properly?

I let KeePass running with higher rights using the task scheduler.
This way it can autotype in whatever program is running.

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
