USB Drive does not show with drive icons
Running Windows 8.0, 64 bit, TC 8.01.
When I plug an external drive into a USB port, Flash drive or other, it does not show up in the drive icon list above the file list as it has on my other computer. I can get to the drive by clicking on the ".." from the root directory of any drive where the "E" drive shows up and can be accessed with a click. I have the "ignore" list cleared and disabled in options.

Maybe you have:
DriveBarHide=e
and / or
HideRemovableNoMedia=1
in your wincmd.ini.
Can you see the drive in the dropdown list when you press Alt+F1 ?

Still no luck
When I press ALT F1 or F2, the drive does show. Also it shows in the drive dropdown box when I click it. I've tried 3 different drives, 2 thumb drives and one external USB 1 TB drive. None show a drive button but do show in the ALT F2 list. The CTRL-R doesn't help either.

Does this also happen if you start TC with a clean ini file?

No Luck
Unfortunately when TC is started this way, the "Show Drives buttons" check box is unchecked and cannot be changed since the ini file is considered protected. The drives do show like before in the drive dropdown box and with ALT-F2.
Any other suggestions?

Just use /i=c:\users\yourname\emptyini.ini
or any other location where you have write rights.

Empty Ini worked,
I tried starting on command line with the empty ini and it did show the drive buttons for the USB drives as I added them properly. Where in the ini should I look for where the problem may lie. I have my TC highly personalized and it would be a big chore to start over. It there a way to "disable" part of the ini file so I can find the problem area?

The following options can have an influence:
DeviceChange=0 ignore notifications about added/removed drives
allowed=CDE\ limit the displayed drives to the listed names, and the network neightborhood "\"
drivebarhide=EFG hide the listed drives in the drive buttonbar
