Calculate Folder Size

Post by *jctcom »

I seem to remember reading about a new keyboard shortcut ("Ctrl" + Something) in the new ver 8.5 that will calculate the file / folder size(s) for all the visible folders in the currenlty active directory.

For the life of me I can't now remember what it was or find it.

Thanks.

Carl.

Well, it is not new, but anyway: use SHIFT-Alt-Enter to show sizes of all the visible folders in the currenlty active directory.

And the long existing shortcut Ctrl+L for displaying a message with calculated space for selected files/folders.

One other option is adding cm_CountDirContent to the button bar.

But there is a new command with 8.5.
If so, it should be mentioned in history.txt, and I cannot find anything about it there.

Nor I. But I did read it somewhere and was using it just last week. For the life of me I can't remember where I read it or what the key combination is.

Is there a chance that you meant the spacebar hotkey (see topic# 36114), used to calculate the size of a single folder?

If you are using a plugin like DirSizeCalc you can use the commands cm_LoadSelOnDemandFields and cm_LoadAllOnDemandFields to load all folder sizes or the size of each selected folder. Of course you can assign a custom hotkey like Ctrl+Something to perform one of these commands.
