two dots =back

Post by *peekaa »

I would like use "two dots" as "back" not to "up" Is there in TC option for this?

In w7/8 there are lot of links. Sometimes it is confusing for me, if I click on "file" (which is in fact link), and then I click on "two dots" and I am not the same place, as I was before.

Thank you.

I'm sorry but I hate stupid 'Back' action on Backspace in Windows 7, especially in open/save file dialogs when there is no history but there are a lot of upper levels. I can always press Alt+Left in order to go back and I don't understand why they changed Backspace action (and even removed 'Up' button which is always on the same window position in contrast to breadcrumb bar), now I have no way to go level up (Alt+Up is ugly and doesn't work in some dialogs).

Anyway I'm sure that TC's '..' won't change its true meaning of parent directory.

If you want to go back, feel free to add buttonbar button with cm_GotoPreviousDir command.

You should ask Microsoft. It's an OS dependent folder structure thing.

Use back button on the button bar?

Alt+Left is OK, thank you. I hate :-) buttons, they delay me.

"XButton1" is additional button on 5 button mouse, the one under the thumb. If you have such a mouse you can browse back with one click.

If you own "Internet Keyboard" you have probably similarly functioning button on it ("Back"). It's designed for web browser, but works with TC as well.

And, of course you can assign TC command cm_GotoPreviousDir to any shortcut key.
