highlight a part of filenames in file panel - as in Explorer
Is there any option (may be, with some external utility, script etc) to highlight a part of filenames in file panel - just as Windows 7 Explorer and some other file managers do (and as TC does itself, say. in Lister window). It is extremely useful feature, specially when searching by filenames.
Thanks!
Thanks!

If just need to searching by filenames, suggest try to use "Everything" Search Engine.
http://www.voidtools.com/
It can be integrated to TC button bar, and feedback the result file to TC file panel.

Thank you for your reply. But I can't find any logic connection between my question and your answer, sorry... In general it is recommended to read other forum member's post more or less carefully before you start to answer it.If just need to searching by filenames, suggest try to use "Everything" Search Engine.

Have you ever used files search in Windows 7 (not Windows XP!!) Explorer? If not, please try it just now (if you have Windows 7 somewhere). You will immediately see search query keywords highlighting, what I speak about.I can't understand what do you want, where can I see such highlighting in Explorer or TC Lister?
Windows 7 Explorer search, highlight Yellow Background.
Total Commander search, highlight nothing.
Everything search, highlight bold text, and also can change to Win 7 style.
Anyway, after search, you will need list, copy or even delete the result file.
IMHO, Everything filenames search speed(less than 1 second) are much faster than TC.
This way can not highlight a part of filenames in TC file panel,
But can highlight a part of filenames when searching by filenames . If you no need this, it is my fault, sorry.

However it is a workaround only. For me it would be much better to get keywords highlighting directly in TC file panel.
Besides I had in mind rather quick filter in the current folder, not so-called "full search" (Alt+F7).
Thank you, now I see, what you meant. So your post really answers to my my request, please accept my apologies... I will try your solution with Everything.Everything search, highlight bold text, and also can change to Win 7 style...

For quick filter(cm_ShowQuickSearch), may be you can check with QuickSearch eXtended Author.oshizelly wrote: However it is a workaround only. For me it would be much better to get keywords highlighting directly in TC file panel.

BTW, Everything is still ok for me as quick filter did.
For example, add icon on button bar,
Command: %COMMANDER_PATH%\addons\Everything\Everything.exe
Icon file: %COMMANDER_PATH%\addons\Everything\Everything.exe
Parameters: -path "%P"
=> Everything will search in the current folder only.
If Parameters: (none)
=> Everything will search all local NTFS disk(=full search).

Yes, it was my first idea too. But AFAIR another user asked somewhen for adding words highlighting feature to QuickSearch eXtended plugin and the author (Samuel) answered, that it is not possible or needs a lot of work or something negative like that, I don't remember exactly...For quick filter(cm_ShowQuickSearch), may be you can check with QuickSearch eXtended Author.
Thank you again for the good hint!BTW, Everything is still ok for me as quick filter did.
Could you please clarify, where a user can change highlighting style to Windows 7 style (yellow color background) in Everything settings?Everything search, highlight bold text, and also can change to Win 7 style.

Thats easy:
Options / View / Show highlighted search terms
Options /Fonts and Colors / Item states /Highlighted (set background color)
BTW highlighting in Windows 7 Explorer is transparent in case of classic theme, and only bounding rectangle is visible.
Anyway I never work with Explorer (except select file dialogs).

Almost... That's why I wish to get this functionality in our favorite TC.
BTW, some other file managers can highlights keywords in filename as well, one example is XYplorer.
