Confusing progress bar with postponed confirmations

Post by *Sob »

I needed to move some files to another drive. I selected them, pressed F6, clicked OK, nothing unusual. The process started, but something was wrong. File progress bar went from beginning to end several times, i.e. it looked like files were moved, but the free space on source drive did not increase. Then I noticed the total progress bar, which seemed kind of stuck in strange loop. It always moved a little, but after each file it jumped back to 0% and file/byte counters also went to zeros.

In the end, the explanation was simple. All files were read only and the first one was big enough to take more time to copy than was initial time period during which TC asks questions. Now, I like these postponed confirmations very much, as anybody who in the past used TC to copy/move large amount of files, only to find it half a day later stuck at 10% or so. :)

But the behavior of total progress bar seems wrong. I get it, it shows completed operations, in this case when file was moved completely and source deleted. But it's really confusing, because it's not clear what the real progress is. Wouldn't it be better if it counted half-done operations too, when file is already copied, but source deletion is pending?
