slow response on browsing a mapped network folder (BB10)

Post by *ackuxacky »

Dear users,

browsing the network attached SD card of my BlackBerry Z10 is waaaaay toooo slow. At each command (click to open a file) it waits for something like 1-3 seconds (it reads the directory maybe?), then executes (opens a file viewer -- file specific) and the same again, when I want to gain focus with Total Commander. Even, only switching between Total Commander and another program makes TC react slow.

It does not seem phone specific behaviour, because doing the same with Windows Explorer, causes no delays: I can switch between WC and the open viewer and WC reacts promptly.

What should I check in TC settings to make TC react snappier?

running TC version 8.51a

Thanks for reading!

How does the Blackberry appear in Total Commander? As a drive letter (e.g. drive E:\) or as a virtual folder in "My Computer"?

As a drive: X:\ Z:\

And, yes, it is also listed under \\Computer\

Additional note 1: TC says "Reading directories: 1 [ESC]" during the lag.

Additional note 2: It does not matter, which half (left or right) I click into to gain focus with TC, TC always lags, if one of the sides is that mapped network drive. Also, when TC is not in focus, and I click on a tab or the TC window (to gain focus), TC lags for a couple of seconds.

It could be a problem with loading icons or overlays - try turning them off (for testing) in menu Configuration - Options - Icons.
