Truncate long file names

Is there anyway to truncate long file names in total commander,

Multi-rename tool

I am using the Multi-rename tool.
When I download many files the names are too long to burn onto a dvd.
With the Multi-rename tool i caan shorthen them but I end up with duplicates.

Try this: use e.g. template [N1-40] (use desired number) to shorten names.
On duplicate names warning answer OK, TC will rename all files except ones that produce duplicates.
Then simply add a counter to template and process rest files: [N1-40]~[C] (use desired splitters between name and counter).
