[Feature request] Synchronize Directories - undo

Post by *Zom-B »

I just screwed up big. I compared two directories (containing 9500 sub-directories, just to get an idea of the scale), pressed the button. Then after the first phase completed and the second phase started copying right->left instead of the other way around, it dawned on me that I forgot to select the "Asymmetric" check-box.

The result: Before I managed to cancel, a few hundred files that were deleted/moved/renamed in the working directory got filled in by files from the backup. There's no way for me to find those files, as the file dates are scattered (as they should) and after canceling, the list is cleared while it re-scans.

Two (and a half) ways to prevent this the next time (the feature request):
  • -undo function
-don't clear the list so I can select the files on the right (blue, singles) and mark them for deletion on the left(!) side
-don't clear the list so I can scroll around and inspect which files were copied (the manual way; with pen and paper if needed)

I think you should try TC logging feature under Configuration - Log file. With log you will be able to find out which files were copied (and filter file paths using regex).

Also please check file creation dates: by default newly created files got current creation date (it is not copied from old files) so it may help to find wrongly copied files.

Synchronize dirs does delete to recycle bin if the drive supports it, and if you haven't disabled recycle bin in the TC settings...
